Accepted UCF Spring 2011

Hey! I just wanted to start a thread for freshman who have been accepted to UCF for the Spring of 2011!

Hi! Were you accepted to UCF for Spring 2011? I applied, haven’t received anything yet because I haven’t sent the counselor’s letter yet, doing it this week. I’m very nervous, I really want to go there. Would you mind telling me your stats? Just to see if I’m somewhere close…
My ACT is low but I wrote a killer essay haha.

Yeah I was accepted and I’m going there in the spring! Really excited!

Here are my stats (my test scores kinda suck):

GPA: 3.9

SAT Math: 520
SAT CR: 550
SAT Writing: 550

ACT: 26

No APs… took IB classes freshmen and sophmore year, but it wasn’t really my thing. (Didn’t do so well in them :P) Took honor classes junior and senior year.

I did a bunch of ECs in high school though… I was in a bunch a different clubs, sports, community service, etc.

I sent in a recommendation from my physics teacher in high school.

My essays were pretty good too i think.

I honestly have no clue how they decide who gets in and who doesn’t, but some how i got in to their Electrical Engineering program. Maybe cause of the lack of females in that department?? Who knows!

Did you hear if you get accepted yet? I found out about 2 1/2 weeks after I applied.

Hi not yet!!! I sent in the final transcriptions last thursday so there may still be some time left…I hope I get accepted, if I do I’ll keep you updated so we at least know someone and we’re not completely lost! =p

You’re stats are fantastic! Mine are so much lower =(
I had 3.70gpa
and 23 on my ACT <- Totally flunked Math…Stupid numbers!
My essay was amazing I’m hoping the person who reads it says: “THIS PERSON NEEDS TO BE HERE!” XD

My EC’s are good but not great, but this is not my fault. Where I come from they don’t offer a lot of EC’s and no honor classes =( So I hope they take that into consideration.
I was top 10% in my class, etc. ,etc.
Some people with much lower stats have been accepted, I just hope I’m one of them because the workload at my school was incredibly hard and it’s sad that there’s no way for the University to see that.

Let’s wait a week more or so and see what happens! I’ll keep you updated!
If not, what others were u thinking of applying?
I’m still pondering which I should send applications to…
I just want to go to UCF so bad haha

Whoa ! They already accepting people ? I need to go on that but yeah i’m really nervous because of my SAT scores so i’m going to apply summer B … Idk i got a 520 writing 560 reading but a 350(WHOA!) in math… so yeah I need to bring that up. I’m taking the SAT again though. I have a 4.8 gpa and extra extracurriculars, community service and all that so I hope I get in !

Yes MaydayParade UCF is already accepting students but just for Spring. Summer and Fall applicants won’t get any response until October I believe. Your GPA is definitely solid but unfortunate it seems highly unlikely you’ll get in with your math SAT score being so low. If you bring it up to where your reading is you should have a pretty decent chance. If not, don’t apply for Fall, it seems to be easier to get in during the Spring and Summer semesters with lower test scores/GPAs.

Oops in my previous post I meant “I need to get on that.” Anyways yea true, I forgot about spring . Hmm . But I’d rather just start in summer and be able to attend in fall. & yeah I’ve always had a math “block,” but i’m going to start studying soon, I didn’t study at all . I get good grades in my math classes though, well at least last year because I am motivated… as you can see . I’m also going to try and bring up my reading to at least 600. I know I can I just get a little anxious on tests… but yeah I know I need the 350 up . Thats ridiculous . Did you apply? Status?

I’m a second year student already at UCF so I can’t really give you a gauge for what they may be looking for exactly. A friend of mine though took a year off after high school and initially getting rejected by UCF and then reapplied for summer a whole year later and got in with a GPA of about 4.2 but a lopsided SAT score, perfect in reading but extremely low for math.

Hmmm that’s interesting. I know the best thing for me to do is just study and pray I get my score up . Because I really don’t want to go to a private or community college. I already have been dual enrolled/taking some classes at our local community college since junior yr so having to go back will not be fun.

His girlfriend completed application around the same time applying for Summer 2011 - hasn’t heard. Although UCF was at my S school today and rep mentioned they are starting summer review this week.

Congratulations to all of you who were accepted!

MaydayParade I wanted to personally reply to you. I was accepted to Spring 2011 (you can see my stats stated above)
I scored very poorly on the ACT (23) because like you mentioned, I am really bad with those tests. And I specifically scored very, VERY poorly in Math. (19)
I don’t know how to translate these in SAT scores but there are charts you can see online. I’d suggest applying for Spring, the competition is not much and there’s a chance you will get accepted. What I did is I wrote an amazing essay (Poured my heart out haha) and apparently it work. You have until NOVEMBER 1ST to apply, so if you decide to do so do it quickly. You could always re-apply for summer. Applying for summer may work as well but I couldn’t really give you any information about that. Applications for Fall are VERY competitive, most students have 3.90GPA + and 28-30 ACT or very high SATs.

Good luck if you need anything don’t be afraid to reply or send me a message…

;)

WOW!!! CONGRATS to everyone who has already been accepted…for those of you will such high act scores 21 above…how do you do so well. I have a major problem when taking test & I dont know what I can do to change this. Do you guys know any good websites for practice test? any books? or any advice for me when i take the test NEXT WEEK:/

I just applied for Spring 2011 as well, but as a transfer student with AA degree.
High School Weighted: 3.7
CC GPA: Prob around 3.0
ACT:30

Hoping it all works out! I’m so nervous right now!

For those people who are attending UCF starting in the Spring, is there any way to register for classes before Orientation? Freshmen Orientation isn’t until a few days before classes start. I’m afraid all the good classes will be filled up and i’ll to take classes I have no need for. Any advice?

@collegechick327

Hi I am a junior at UCF and there is no way to register for classes before you go to orientation. Once you sign in for orientation a couple of hours after that they will lift the hold off of your record, then you can register for classes.

Hope this helps !

Hiiii! I got accepted wayyy back in October or September I was so excited :)

My GPA was 4.3
Acts: 28 (32 Reading, 31 English, 24 Math, and 26 Science. 10/12 writing)
I took seven ap classes and whatnot. Lots of ec’s!
