so i have like a 3.80000000000000000 gpa unweighted
and i know brown puts the most weight on grades/intensity of classes so do i even have a shot?

not a mintority no istf or anything really prestigious, good SATs, but am i wastying my time as a stragiht A- student

My UWGPA is a 3.75 and I was accepted. That was taking the most rigorous course load in my highschool tho… so I dono how that was viewed. -shrugs-. But it does happen.

A 3.8 isn’t bad. Keep in mind that Brown also rejects hoards of 4.0s. You don’t need perfection, as long as they think you can survive as a student there, you’ll be fine. The next and hardest part is whether you can fit at Brown and contribute to campus. The best way to do that: Be yourself.

The issue is not what your GPA is, but how it compares to other students in your school. Brown just released some numbers that 96% of this year’s admits were in the top 10 percent of their class.

First of all, these threads are ridiculous because it’s completely illogical to ask “HAS NE1 EVER GOTTEN ACCEPTED WITH X GPA OR Y SAT?!?!??” Yes, someone probably has, unless it’s something completely absurd. You have to know that 3.8 is certainly not in the range of completely absurd. If you don’t, then you are probably not intelligent enough to be applying to college in the first place.

Ohh Poseur give the kid a break, we’ve all been there. Anyway, Brown14, fireandrain hit the rain right on the head, make sure you’re doing your best in the hardest amount of rigor. And best of luck!

im asking not because i lack common sense but just because im worried since the avg gpa in my hs is 3.7 uw and im obnly taaking 6 aps with 12 avaialbe

I doubt I have over 3.8 unweighted cumulative.
I don’t think GPA matters that much as long as you’re doing well and have strong qualifications otherwise…

Wow, talk about changes in grade inflation. An UW GPA of 3.7 was top 1% in my HS. Now, if the avg SAT at your HS is 1400+, then maybe it’s justifiable.

I don’t even know what my GPA is on a 4.0 scale…

What would a 3.8 translate to out of 100? Or letters, I suppose. I really don’t get the 4.0 system at all because I’ve never had to deal with it.
