My friend at school found out over the weekend. Her SAT score was 1250 (SAT IIs were 630 Math 2c, 6?? Writing, and 580 Physics) and she declared physics as her major....which PROVES that test scores really AREN't Everything! It gives me hope, hehe ;)

wow... good essays, yes? legacy?

My test scores were atrocious, but I still got in. I didn't submit SAT IIs or SAT Is, only my ACT. In all honesty, there was no reason I got in except for little things that accumulated to being in my advantage--like I'm a legacy (my family didn't, however, donate any money to NU), I'm from a local high school (the acceptance rate for kids coming from my school is a lot higher than that of the general applicant pool, etcetera).

So I guess test scores aren't everything.

Hey sprkl325 (Jane)...

No legacy or minority status, but I think my essay was pretty good. I also think being in NASA Sharp helped me...

HeyI'veGotWork: Do you go to Hinsdale Central? I know tons of kids that went there that now go to NU. Just asking...

I used to go to New Trier (most Chicago kids on the board now hate me), but then I moved to Colorado after my sophomore year....I would love to get back to Chicago for college

I'd rather not say where I go to school, but I don't go to Hinsdale Central. I live literally 10 minutes away from Northwestern's Evanston campus--just to give you an idea of how local I'm talking about.

Oh I wasn't asking you to say what school you went to - I was just curious. I realize now that it was kind of invading your "internet privacy". Sorry!

HAHA julie lol---You have SO many band awards and ECs, no wonder you got in ;)

Either goes to Evanston Township or New Trier or Niles North

If you applied ED you found out in Dec, didn't you? Helps your case enormously if you apply Ed - congrats ! Don't the rest of us still have to wait til end of the month?

umm... and NASA SHARP is an amazing summer program. shes obviously just not the best test taker

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we have to wait until the end of March.

Most top tier schools stress that test scores really aren't that important and that good grades can make up for less than great scores. I think some, particularly on this website :) tend to put too much emphasis on them.

it's too bad though, because my test scores are one of my strong suits shrug

awww a 1250, lol, well my scores ONLY 70 pts below that, LOL. I'm pretty sure I won't get in

hm, i'm the one w/the 1250 umardarr, and i'm pretty sure that nw isn't totally obsessed w/test scores like some schools... don't give up hope yet
