Hello everyone, I am new here to CC and am seeking out advice. Here is my story, I have been at my local cc for about three years, I began by taking pre-nursing courses that match my cc’s nursing program. Just recently I decided to go pre-med and transfer. Well in my eagerness to transfer I applied to a major public university ( top 10 in the country) without the completion of all of the pre-reqs, and was shockingly accepted. I am missing the following courses that are pre-reqs for my major: OrgoChem I & II, Bio II, Physics I & II. I am not sure how this will, if it will at all, mess up my academic path. None of these courses are offered in the spring or summer at my current institution. I transfer fall of 2016. Any advice?
First: congrats! you are clearly a strong student or you wouldn’t have been accepted.
It’s hard to say if it will mess up your academic path without knowing more about your path. I’m assuming you will be at your new university for 2 years (that’s the usual requirement). What other courses do you need to take in those 2 years? are you any stronger (or do you have a better background) in any of these courses? Can you take any of those courses during the summer- ideally one this summer- at your new university?
Thank You! I have attached the pdf links to both of the majors I am debating on declaring. I have all other pre-reqs done, with exception to an undergrad engineering class (not offered at my cc at all) if I were to choose the Cell Molec. Bio/ BioMed Engineering major.
Biochemistry:

Cell Molecular Biology/ BioMedical Engineering

Biochemistry is the more rigorous major so I could see missing these pre-reqs throwing that way off.
The CMB BME major is the one I am in more favor of.
Thank you for your time
Also, I am trying to reach out to an advisor as to how I could approach this, but as of right now I am just a Fall enrolled transfer. :-<
When you speak with your advisor, find out what order you should take those classes in. You probably do not want to take OChem, Bio II, and Physics I in your first term!
Lots of transfers arrive without all of the pre-reqs for their majors. This just adds an extra term or two onto the time you otherwise might have needed to complete your degree and/or restricts your choices of elective coursework.
Here’s the rundown: If the classes are unavailable at your CC, then once you transfer, you have to take those classes at your university. Those classes that are required are usually for freshman and sophomores, so it’s going to be a pain in the rear end if you’re an incoming junior taking prereq classes.
