Accepted as a Biology Major!
Haven’t gotten the letter yet, i just checked the SOLAR and it was a pleasant surprise.
US Citizen living in India though, so not international but not exactly domestic either :P

Accepted! NYS STUDENT.

Accepted as bio major too! i’m a US citizen in Pakistan
somehow my sister hasn’t received any decision and she’s worried.
it’s only stony brook-safety school!

Anyone want to tell me their grades and SAT score and etc that got them into stony brook? Greatly appreciated :).

I got accepted into Bio, too I got my letter yesterday.

SharonSUNY -
GPA: 4.56 weighted & 3.9 unweighted
SAT: 700 V 700 M 780 W
Rank: 3/369

Is anyone attending the Accepted Students Day on April 9?

Ak121993 - you seem really overqualified for stony brook…
Or am I mistaken on the Avg admissions?

does anyone know what happens during stony brook accepted students day?

You become oriented with the University. Seminars, activities and other events which will show you why Stony Brook is a fine place to educate yourself.

SharonSUNY - I see that you are posting about many applicants here being overqualified. I think you underestimate the average applicant pool to Stony Brook.

ak121993 is definitely overqualified for stony brook. the average stats posted on collegeboard at least do not convey that stony brook’s SAT scores are that high. so i wouldn’t worry too much sharonSUNY.

Thanks tintin1992

My daughter was just accepted… weighted GPA is “about” 3.9… unweighted a bit lower…but still quite high. Top 10% of her class. Many AP’s/Honors…also in Regents Physics this year with a 99% average. Many EC’s including class officer, band, sports, president of clubs like UNYTS (organ donation). She’s in-state (Buffalo). Essay was re: the testing for her black belt in Tae Kwon Do - it was pretty good. Her weakness…for the life of her she does “average” on the SAT - 570 Math and 600 Reading…which is going to stink for scholarship stuff.

I’m exactly the same way. I have the same gpa but had a 630 on math and 540 on reading

What happen guys didn’t study or it was that hard :(?

I haven’t took the SATs yet btw.

spent a lot of money at a place to help study for it and didnt help at all. Just not the test for me

I can tell you I bought my daughter the SAT study guide, she went to SAT prep class for math and she couldn’t manage more than an average grade. I can tell you her current AP calculus grade is a 98. The results showed what she did answer - she got right, but the test ended and she couldn’t complete the whole section. Her math teacher can’t understand it either. It’s just not the test for her.

Well the SAT does not test on calculus, it’s math are usually logical thinking type and does not even need a calculator. However the SAT of course does not guaranteed your success in college or is a good indicator of how well a student is or can be.

What does “AOI in Pre-Biomedical Engrng” mean? That is what the Solar website lists as my program. I applied to Biomedical Engineering on my application…

Anyways, I think I have an unofficial acceptance because the homepage updated to include For New Students, Campus Financial Services, and Campus Housing section.

Here is the website that explains AOI:

My D did not take calculus-based physics in HS which, I believe, is a pre-req for direct entry into BME. FYI.
