Hey everybody, received my acceptance update online! I am just making this to talk about it with people if anyone wants to haha. I applied OOS Engineering!

Congrats! I got into the engineering college as well but I’m in-state. What state are you from?

S was also accepted into engineering. Still waiting to hear from other schools, but if he doesn’t get into his ed, this will be a strong contender.

Unless they send it later, ds didn’t get any merit $, but he’s also oos so we weren’t expecting any.

As a high school junior who will be applying to this school next year, what are your guys stats if you don’t mind me asking?

Yeah, I too got accepted as a biomedical engineering major. I still have not received my notification from UNC. If I do get that acceptance letter from UNC, it’s going to be hard to choose which school to attend. State is well known for engineering. UNC may not be known for engineering and is pretty new to it, but it’s well known in the country. The way I see it, I’d consider state more if I get an automatic invitation and acceptance to the Honors Program. Unfortunately, I have not received one yet. Has anyone received their invitation to the Honors Program. And does someone happen to know if they accept ACT scores in their consideration for who will get the invitations? I saw in their website that students with a minimum SAT score be invited, but nothing about ACT score.

Oh and here’s my stats:

-Asian (don’t really know if that helps)
-top 5% in my school
-ACT=29 (ENG: 31; MATH:31; Science:27; Reading:26; Writing: 8)
-SATs= Never took it
-UW GPA=3.9 Weighted=4.6
-AP’s IB’s= School does not offer
-Took several college courses (2 semesters worth)

Activities:
-Hospital Volunteer (200 hours)-Sophomore and Junior Year
-Adopt-A-Highway Volunteer-Junior and Senior Year
-Yearbook Photographer- Senior Year
-National Honor Society Treasurer and Volunteer Coordinator- Junior and Senior Year
-Science Club Member- Freshmen and Sophomore Year
-Student Government Sophomore Class Rep. and Senior Class Secretary- Sophomore and Junior Year
-Math Tutor in-school- Junior and Senior Year

-Several Awards

Also I actually filled out all the optional essays in the application except the one that asked about the student’s adversity.

username - are you going for engineering? I found on their engineering site for undergrad website that what they are really looking for is advanced science/math class and strong math sat scores. They said they looked at ec’s, but basically didn’t really care about them.

S went to a rigorous private school - I believe he had a 4.2 jr year and took ap calc ab, honors physics, ap chemistry, english and us history. This year he’s taking ap physics, ap calc bs, mat lab (an engineering software class), honors philosophy, english & gov.

My son has also been accepted OOS engineering. Also just got email invitation to apply to Honors. He attended the summer engineering program there at NCSU this past June and loved it. Will have to decide between Georgia Tech in state or NCSU out of state. NCSU has made him feel special, and even more so if he gets in their Honors program, whereas he feels more like just a number for GT. However, for his major, Industrial Engineering, GT is ranked #1 and NCSU is ranked #10 nationwide on the latest U.S. News list. It’s going to be a really tough call.

I’m amazed at the contact already from a pretty large school. He got a phone call a few days ago from someone there, as well as the letter in the mail, and they have admitted engineering days in January as well.
