actually, I was sitting in the back, however, when they finished, I sat in the front and waited to speak to the...speaker. To tell you the truth, he gave me the wroung impression of the school, he suaded me not to apply. ie "we prefere that you get A+ in AP!" "get elastic pants because you will eat alot!" (apparently he did not understand that new yorkers are health conscious!) I began to think that the school I thought I applied to really wasnt the school I thought it was. however, my interviewer told me otherwise. Remember? the speaker that night, he had a "haughty tone"

I just found out today by email that i got in!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to soloph and other acceptees! But why did you receive decision by email? Anyway, I wonder why no one of you has started a "Bowdoin class of 2010 Thread" yet ;)

hey everybody, nothing came in the mail today, so i decided to call the admin office and see what was up, and they said they could check my admissions status.
bad choice.
i didnt get deferred, i got rejected... oh well. i felt bad for the guy that had to tell me, he sounded all sad or whatever.
so, i guess its on to crappy state schools. maybe i can transfer next year.
i wish all of you the best of luck at bowdoin, it is a truly wonderful place, and i know it will be the best four years of your life.

Sorry sublimeaxer. I got deferred from Bowdoin- but most deferred people do not get accepted. I believe you will be happy at another school and I've finally come to terms that while Bowdoin is an incredible school it is not the only incredible school out there. I'd recommend you'd look into to slightly less selective, but excellent private schools. Bowdoin is ridiculously competitve and looking for something beyond the average highly qualified applicant. I just had a long chat with a parent whose child was accepted to Bates about SAT scores. I've pretty much come to the realization that while I'm a qualified applicant, I probably won't get accepted to Bates. The whole process is imperfect and it certainly does not predict success. In fact, I took an entrance exam to my high school honors program and was not accepted. I am currently in the program and rank in the top of my class which shows what an accurate predictor these admission processes are. Good luck and I'm sure you'll love wherever you attend!

sorry man, dont give up! there are plenty of great schools out there! I for one believe that Bowdoin is a very nice school, however, I would be just as happy anywhere else. Try the other Maine schools!

Congrats to everyone who got in....

I was waitlisted last year.....cum laude, good EC's, good SAT's...thought I had a passion for Bowdoin...

All I have to say to you deferred is get excited about a school that is excited about you! You do not need a school that does not need you.

Tons of schools would feel lucky to have you. You are the consumer here, not the school. Tell Bowdoin to take a flying leap and jump at another school that sees what you have to offer!

Sorry Bowdoin....:)

Hey, I'm Zach, from Maryland, and I got accepted ED to Bowdoin this year. Congrats to everyone! Anyone else who is going there next year please contact me.

Congrats to those who were accepted. Look forward to seeing you all next year in the frigid north.

Deferrals may not be the mark of death people here seem to make it sound. As people here have said, the fact that you applied here ED makes you an almost certain yield if the college accepts you RD. I would personally take the same steps as waitlisted RD'ers and reaffirm your commitment to the college. Send them a letter, maybe another reccomendation, something that would remind them of who you are and your commitment to attend. The college isnt as concerned with creating a class with propoganda stats as they are with creating a class who truly enjoys it here. Good luck in April.

I am going to Bowdoin next year. I recieved my letter on Dec. 16th. What are your SNs? We should start a Bowdoin chat. My SN is andthenkatasaid.

mine is volkl977

many people i know who were flat out rejected and would be love to have been deferred--so to those deferred, feel thankful that you still have a chance! obviously that can be tough because of the disappointment you are feeling for not being accepted.

+1 I agree

Whoo I've been accepted EDII!

hahayea- accepted ED 2
