Accepted

DD received her letter of acceptance to U of San Diego today. She is very happy.

Congratulations! :D I'm glad she got in.

Great news!!!!!

my son just got his acceptance today!

Congratulations on his acceptance :)

Congrats on your daughter's acceptance, thumper. USD is a great school. My son will graduate this May---in four years. Congrats to Oregon Mom also.

maryc,
Do most students graduate in 4 yrs? Congratulations to your son Oregon Mom!

I really don't know the stats on 4 yr graduation. But I know our son never had any problems getting any of his classes, and the counselors always helped keep him on track. Our two older kids went to UCs with less personal counseling advice, altho one did grad in 4 yrs from UCLA.

My son's first choice is Annapolis but he hasn't heard yet. If he doesn't get in, he will be thrilled to go to San Diego. Is there bus access to the beach? How far is the school from the beach areas? town? Also, are there swimming pools on campus just for recreation?

Sorry I overlooked answering you, Oregon Mom. Yes, there is bus access to the beach, along w/oodles of students driving there. USD is about 5 minutes from the beaches (Pacific Beach and Mission Beach are the closest beach towns---also party central for USD students). My son's freshman dorm had a gorgeous view of Mission Bay---far cry from my college years! Sorry but I don't know about pools on campus.

There is a great pool on campus for recreation and lap swimming and some of the dorms have smaller pools that the kids sun bathe by, Missions A for example has one right outside their huge suites which have views of the bay from their beds. Nice life!

For those who have been accepted.... When did you apply? I applied in early November, regular decision, and have yet to hear back.

Applied end of november regular decision and got my letter mid-Jan.

DD applied EA in October and got her acceptance at the END of January. Now why would the EA applicants get their decisions after the RD applicants. AND I thought USD was a deadline school...RD applicants heard in April...not rolling.

The following is cut right from the website. RD applicants supposedly get notified mid March to late April....How is it that RD applicants are already being notified?

Deadlines & Notification
Fall Semester 2006 (begins September)

Freshman Applicants
Early Action - postmark deadline November 15, 2005
Early Action - notification date January 31, 2006
Regular Action - postmark deadline January 5, 2006
Regular Action - notification period Mid March-Late April, 2006
Late Consideration - postmark deadline March 15, 2006
Late Consideration - notification period March 1-May 1, 2006

my acceptance letter was dated Jan 18th. I also got the Trustee Scholarship so maybe we hear earlier? I'm not lying if that's what you are getting at

I did not mean to imply that YOU were lying. I think the University has "fuzzy" notification dates...and to be honest that is puzzling to me. If they say they are a deadline school WHY do THEY (not you) send notifications earlier. Unless Trustee Scholars have interviews earlier on, there would be no reason to notify earlier. Congratulations!! That is a nice honor.

I think its probably because she sent it so early and so close to the EA date. Also if you're a pretty good student which I assume with the scholarship, they might think it benefits them to get the acceptance out early. I do agree their dates are fuzzy but since they say they send out acceptances Mid-March-April, it shows that they aren't too set on dates and are willing to send things out on a rolling basis.

hi for those that got in, were any of you out of state? also were you early action? I applied late Dec. regular decision and still waiting to hear some good news. Are the out of state rates a little more realisitic unlike UC'S 5%? Thanks and congrats to all of you who were admitted.
