DD received large envelope this afternoon
No notification of merit aid or Honors yet. Dad, uncle and two older sisters are alums so she is pretty stoked.
Stats: GPA 3.9UW, IB Diploma Candidate, 11 AP/IBs
SAT 1310/2010
Planning Psych major with Neuroscience minor
We are OOS but I think it is her first choice especially if Honors comes through
Congrats to all accepted

DD accepted! Just happened to look on student portal and saw the “Congratulations!!” What a great Christmas present!! Definitely her first choice.

Were these ED or EA applications? Older son is a sophomore there and I would love second son to attend. Awaiting his EA response which we anticipate to be an acceptance but he doesn’t want to follow his brother’s footsteps and I can’t really blame him. I just hope he changes his mind! Can’t say enough about the Miami experience for my older son.

DD was an EA, came much sooner than we anticipated!!

Just checked D’s status online - Accepted! Yay! EA
Guess we’ll have to take a trip to Ohio, she has never been there!

Accepted ED as well! Excited about meeting all my classmates! Still waiting to hear from Honors as well. I have been told that I should hear from them around Feb or Mar
Congrats everyone!

Package received here today- did not apply ED-letter stated notifying early and is in Honors and Farmer Business. No mention of merit. Assuming that comes later.

I got in EA as well.

I got accepted EA (and honors) too.

For those with “Honors” invitation, did it come with ED/EA acceptance?
Are you Farmers or some other school?

My D was also admitted to the honors college; same letter as the acceptance letter. No word about scholarships yet though. Hoping to hear about that soon. She is an automatic half to full so it will be interesting how that shakes out.

Confused - looks like some EA submissions have received acceptances already…thought EA decisions weren’t coming out until February 1st?? When were your applications submitted? Anybody else apply EA and not hear yet?
Thanks!

The official notification date is Feb 1. However, this is the second year that some “extremely strong” candidates were given early notification. I don’t know what the cutoff is - I would assume that it includes those eligible for the top tier or two of automatic scholarships. My DD got the big envelope last week - she qualifies for the 1/2 to full scholarship. As noted above, the acceptance does not include your scholarship amount - this will come later. Good luck to everyone - my DS is a junior at Miami and loves it.

When my son was applying three years ago there was quite a discussion on this board about keeping the students excited about Miami when other schools such OSU and IU had already released their EA decisions or were rolling admissions. The scholarship program was also tweaked to be more generous to the higher stat kids - which should also positively impact rankings and yield.

I think they MU is being very smart. They know the high stat kids will apply to some selective schools and getting those kids excited about MU before the others have a chance to act is an excellent marketing tactic. I know that it’s worked at our house and has my D looking for the mail everyday to see if they have sent scholarship info yet.

My son is awaiting the scholarship too. What are your sons stats? I am wondering if they really will be generous with the scholarship or if it was just to get kids to apply. A bit more than half tuition may get my son there? He wants a good business program and this school seems to have a decent reputation. Just wondering when we will hear more…

A friend and I both received our scholarships from Miami yesterday. We each got full tuition so we are definitely excited about that. Madeline12, if your son has a 32+ ACT score and at least a 3.7 GPA, he’s guaranteed a scholarship in the range of half to full tuition.

Congratulations ,that’s fantastic for both of you. I’m sure your stats are terrific! How high were your test scores, if you don’t mind me asking? I’m sure higher than us, but maybe we could get something above half…Great New Years Gift!

Got the full OOS tuition letter today for my D. Nice surprise.

What are your daughters stats?

33/34 superscore, 4.4 w GPA, AP Scholar with distinction, swim team captain two years, volunteer work (not a lot though), governors scholar, blah blah blah. Great writing ability and her essays are remarkable.

Hope that helps.
