I got in William & Mary with full scholarship (Scholar Award). Wow.

Did this come in today's mail????

I'm gonna go hang out by my maiobox and wait for the mail to come..and by the way, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Yes, I just got it today. By the way, I'm in-state. Thanks, marylandgirl.

Wow, congrats! :) My friend's brother is a sophomore at W&M (also in-state) and really loves it there.

Congrats!! :D

Wow - terrific news! I've been waiting for people to post about acceptances this week. Congrats - the College Scholars designation is REALLY competitive! Enjoy your success!

Congrats! Any RD or Monroe acceptances yet?

Would those who are accepted mind posting their stats? I'm waiting for a letter as well, and this might help me prepare myself.

Username / SAT / GPA / State

D received RD acceptance and invitation to Monroe Scholars today.

My D and a classmate of hers both received admission as Monroe Scholars, as well. I love the big envelope that says WELCOME on the outside. I also love that it came before April 1st!! Is anyone familar enough with the program to know what it offers besides special housing and summer research stipend?

Momokbt, are you in Virginia too? I'm hoping that out of state mail hasn't arrived yet!! :-)???

I'm in VA and postmark is March 10, which means out of states wouldn't get it until Monday if they were all mailed yesterday. The letter, however, is dated March 8, which might mean out of states were already sent . . .

S also received his RD/Monroe Scholars acceptance today (in VA). Amazing as it had absolutely no postage on it! His letter made it sound like the Monroe (and of course the four College Scholars) were getting the word earlier than other RD acceptances.
I am a W&M alum, Monroe scholars program began after I was there but I believe that the kids can dorm together in Monroe (great big rooms in an older dorm on old campus near the Wren bldg - this was my favorite dorm when I was there); they get invited to special seminars and chat with the president, etc. More of a prestige perks thing than money, although I think they also get to register for classes early, which could be the best perk after the stipend.

Ok, thanks...I feel better (a little)!!

And congratulations to your daughter!

Congratulations to all the Scholars - Monroe and College; I'm glad your days of waiting are over. For those wondering about the perks of the Monroe program, there was a recent thread about it called "Monroe Scholars Program" (for some reason I can't paste the link here).

Unless they've changed very recently, the main perks of being a Monroe include honors housing (in Monroe Hall and sometimes on several floors of another dorm if there's an overflow); the option to take a second freshman seminar (1 is required), a nice perk because the seminars are very small classes; and a grant for a summer study project of the student's choosing. Many students go abroad with this money. A paper is required once the project is completed. When my daughter was at W & M, the grant amount was $2000; however, I've since read that the amount has increased.

Congrats again, all. My d loved her 4 years at W & M!

Was this for regular decision or early? Does anyone know when they notify regular decision candidates?

My D's letter with Monroe Scholarship was for RD.

They are regular decision letters, but the Monroe / College kids hear early.

Regular RD decisions will probably be out in about 2 weeks.

Monroe scholars live in the same dorm (without AC), get to take a 2nd seminar, and get to register first of the freshmen class. And they get the research money... I think those are the big things.

I doubt there will be any overflow into other dorms because in the last few years they cut down on the number of scholarships given, to make some available to be applied for after freshmen year.

Hey,
OMFG, I got accepted as a College Scholar (In-State)
So excited b/c it's so early.
Anyone know how many College Scholars there are?
