Accepted!

just to clarify,
I got the W&M Scholar Award

wow, congrats to all you guys w/ the honors...lol this thread got me all excited, but then i realized it wasn't for regular rd, correct? you only get a letter now if you are some kind of scholar?

just a bit confused...i'm in-state, and i don't know if i should be worried that i haven't gotten a letter, or just know that i'm not a scholar and wait a couple more weeks.

what's the deal?

I just got the acceptance letter.

I didnt apply for anything special... I dont think.

Oh nevermind, yea I got into the Monroe scholars program.

So what are the benefits? $3,000 stipend and special housing?

Got the acceptance letter today.

Accepted as a Monroe Scholar

OOS, GPA = 99% W, 2340 SAT, 800, 750, 720 IIs, Bunch of random ECs.

Anyone from the midwest hear yet?

D received Monroe Scholar letter today (out of state). Happy and relieved.

D from midwest (not Dakota!)

We are from midwest and student has a big W & M envelope that says welcome on it! I am being a good parent, however, and am letting student open their own mail! :)

OUt of state- What if I have a 2320 SAT and 2nd in class with GPA 4.33 uw (4.79 weight) Should I assume that I've been rejected because I wasn't sent out an acceptance for Monroe Scholar? Anyone have any thoughts?
Also, from New England--anyone from my area get mail today?

No, definitely don't assume that! My older child got into W & M and was not named a Monroe scholar even though she has excellent stats., ec's etc. She also got into U of Chicago, Wash. U. and a whole host of other high caliber schools, many with $. She fell in love with W & M when she went to admitted student's day and has enjoyed it ever since. She heard on April 1st like everyone else!

reading about the early writes (Williams), likely letters (Dartmouth), and now Monroe Scholars is driving me nuts. My best bet is do my homework and stop reading this board! Congrats to all--I hope I get some good news soon

Has anyone gotten a rejection or waitlist letter? I'm out of state, and granted, the mail in my neighborhood takes longer than most places in the country, but i feel like everyone's already gotten their acceptances.

Could this mean that rejections/waitlists were sent later?

only acceptances into the monroe scholars program have been sent out.

regular decisions will be sent in early april so you still have a great shot.

Actually, the non-scholar rd letters last year were sent in the middle of March. My S received his (in-state) on March 19, 2005. So I would say all will hear next week.

I just got the W&M scholar award on saturday. But I'm kind of confused, I don't think I applied for anything special so do they pick people or something and if so, how many got it so far? Though, I'm really excited!!!

A friend of mine who got accepted with a full scholarship did NOT apply for any special scholar program either. He was selected based on the adversity he has overcome and the fact that he will add diversity to the campus.

Does any of this apply to you, macuch88?

You mean we could know, one way or another, by March 19 for 'regular' RD applications?

Yea, that makes more sense. Thanks for clarifying.

Okay, now 3 kids from my school got in to W & M with full rides! None of them applied for scholarships and all of them have lower ranking and SAT scores than me. I am starting to get worried!
