Accepted!

Very happy, I got accepted today (Early Action)

2.989 GPA
29 ACT
One of the top private high schools in Michigan

Also, does anyone know when they tell you if you got any merit aid / financial aid?

When I was admitted in December it came with the admissions packet.

We got financial info. With the letter also.

We got the pkg today saying admittance in Honor program, But we dont see anything about Merit $$.
Is that a Different Letter or same.?

Congrats. Honors is a pretty big deal. Merit money was listed in my sons admission letter.

Admission letter arrived today with no mention of merit $, yet he is in a guaranteed merit category. Input anyone?
I do have prior confirmation from his admissions rep that merit awards will be reassessed with data on file by March 1.

^^ Thanks @1214mom, looks like Honors do have privileges. Son admission letter did not mention any Merit money may be we have to wait for another Letter. I will be really surprise if they offer Honors admission without any Money. We really looking for Full Tuition otherwise it wont be our Top Choices.

They spell merit awards out pretty clearly on their website, and I’m guessing he must be in the Half to full tuition category if he got into honors. I get the colleges confused, but some you can sign into their portal or whatever and find out. I suggest calling them in the morning. I’ve had very positive interactions with people there.

$57,300–$114,500
(half to full tuition
per year****)

His stats easily put him in the above.

Does anyone think I might get some merit aid?

I got my GPA up to a 3.003 and I have a 29 ACT
I know my GPA isn’t good, but my ACT is pretty high

@dadfor2014, my son had 34 ACT, 21/536 rank, 5.05 weighted GPA, national merit commended scholar. They offered him $20,000 (we are out of state), plus $2,000 for scholars program. His merit letter came shortly after his acceptance. Honors admission and scholars letters came after that. Hope you get your full tuition award. If so, post STATS. I’m curious to see what you need to get full tuition . Good luck

@atfer87 - I don’t think so, based on the GPA, but it’s possible: "Award determinations will be based on the official testing and high school transcript information received by Miami University as of March 1, 2014.

In addition to these amounts listed, Miami awards scholarships based upon financial need (determined by the FAFSA), diversity, audition, portfolio, academic performance, athletic ability, and intended area of interest."

@OHMomof2 - That’s good for me then! I am filling out FAFSA, I am hispanic and I’ve done a lot of volunteer work

I’m hoping I get a little bit to be able to afford out of state tuition
