Son was thrilled to be accepted to UNC Wilmington last week.He applied via Common App 10/28. for those interested in stats, he is OOS (CT), 3.3 gpa, 24 ACT, lots of activities,honors/AP classes, and excellent essay and recs.Very happy they review applications "holistically"!

Congrats !! Nice to see that some great colleges are not all about stats and scores. Could you tell me a bit about his EC’s ?

That great to hear. My S2 was accepted recently as well. FWIW, this is in-state with 29 ACT/3.9 UW GPA/1 AP and a small amount of EC. So it is good to know that UNCW takes a good look at the full spectrum of application types.

I’ve also been accepted!
I’m an in state student with a 4.1W 3.5 UW and 26 ACT. I have a decent amount of extracurriculars.

Congrats to all! My daughter was accepted in December to UNCW and is thrilled. She is OOS (Colorado) - 4.1UW, 32 ACT, yearbook editor, varsity soccer, band, and a few AP classes. we are planning a visit soon! Very exciting.
I just got my acceptance in the mail yesterday! 2.7 UW, 2000 SAT, 1 AP, decent ECs, great essays and recs. I am OOS from New Jersey, and a URM male (African-American). When I called them this morning, they did say that they appreciated my “Why UNCW” essay, as well as my Common App essay. They feel that I would really succeed at the school. One of my top three choices, so I am indeed very thrilled
So has anyone sent in a deposit yet? I know it’s early, but I was just curious. We have not.
@DecideSomeHow I have yet to send in a deposit, but I am verbally committed. I plan on sending my deposit soon.
does anyone have any information about when acceptances will be sent?

Regular decision looks like April 1.
So did anyone here decide on UNCW? For us S2 decided to attend NCSU.
@DecideSomeHow I decided on UNCW
My D will be attending ECU, UNC-W looks like the 4th most popular choice from her HS in Raleigh.
@ITBgirl Why did she choose ECU over UNCW?
@LBad96 good question, she had HC and scholarships at both, and both have great nursing programs. She just felt it more at ECU, it is bigger, I don’t think the football mattered too much but who knows. ECU did offer her a spot in grad school for nursing and their HC is very organized and they recruited her pretty hard. I was pulling for Wilmington, I loved the size and the feel of it, but in the end she was torn between ECU and UNC-CH.
@ITBgirl Ah, well that makes sense. Congrats and good luck to her…hopefully she doesn’t regret her decision!
@LBad96, I feel confident that she will be very happy at ECU, and she may end up at UNC-CH for grad school. I hope you enjoy Wilmington. Have you visited yet or are you waiting for orientation? when we toured there I was surprised by how many student were from the North, they all said they loved the weather and the OOS price is so good.
@ITBgirl I’m waiting for orientation, which is next week. I’ve met a lot of northerners through the FB group chats as well, which is pleasantly surprising to me
