Direct Admission to Kelley School of Business

Found out online approximately 2-3 weeks after submitting. Received a big packet in the mail a week later, included the scholarship information. Then, a week later, I received a letter about Kelley direct admit.

Congrats dougdon.

This should REALLY ease some people's minds. My daughter was accepted to IU with a 1500 SAT (reading math and writing all about 500), a 21 ACT, top 25% of her class, approx. 3.4 GPA with 5+ AP courses. And a few C's... We touredcampus this summer and they told us they had a 1050 min. (SAT reading plus math) - so we were worried. But she sent a resume, an essay and 2 letters of rec. in addition to her application. She was accepted about 2-3 weeks after she applied. They must have looked past the scores at the whole application.. she was captain of a varsity sport and had lots of strong extracurriculars (including owning a business)... Just goes to show you, it's not all about the numbers (which they said in the admission session - but we didn't believe -we didnt think they would have time to review that many applications individually.. we were afraid they just fed the scores into the computer and spit out acceptances). If you really like a school you should go for it..especially if you have some unique strengths. If you don't apply you won't get in for sure!

Great advice luckytxmom. It never hurts to apply to a school that you would want to go to.

so the direct admit is another mail package? separately from the initial mail package (to IUB) ?

Apparently. I still haven't gotten my admission letter =/

Kahlen:

Kelley Direct Admit letter comes in a thin envelope with the Kelley logo in the return address. It's a welcome and notificaiton of a direct admit day in March for which further info will be sent at a leter date.

There's alot of applications this time of year and with holiday breaks and all, the notifications may not be going out as fast as apps that were 100% completed in August.

I found out that I got in online, but is it still too late to submit an essay? I'd like IUB to know that it's my #1 school. And honestly, I can use all the aid I can get.

why would u need to submit an essay if you've already been accepted?

i understand the aid thing but grants and stuff are based on statistics and not essays...

there are other scholarships you can apply for later on...

nyy- When you get your packet in the mail, the intro letter will tell you if you got merit aid. You may be invited to apply for a Selected Scholarship in which case there would be an application with essays. Other than that, just celebrate and enjoy your Christmas or 11th day of Hannukah present from IUB. Congratulations.
