The hierarchy is as follows:

Stern
CAS/GSP
Steinhardt/Gallatin
Tisch

I just saw your stats can I can't believe you got GSP'ed...if anything you should have got a scholarship to CAS.

firewalker, you are making generalizations that are not factual. First of all, you can't characterize all of Tisch that way. The kids in the Drama School have stats, in almost every year, that rival the top students in any other school at NYU. The year I applied, they were only topped by Stern's admitted students. Film/tv tends to have lower stats but even they have some excellent academic students. Tisch's admissions is half academics and half artistic review. One of my roomies was in Tisch and so I know a lot of Tischies. They're not what you're portraying them to be. And no, I'm not in Tisch. I'm in CAS and have the largest merit scholarship available so I have no beef with any other school. But seriously, you have to stop saying things like this. These kids here are going to believe it!

no one here to defend Gallatin...

yeah so im accepting and i think that GSP will be great cuz it just like the same thing then i get to go to cas in junior year. and i got a descent finacial, i have a scholarship from the outside and with thier stuff it will be about half given and then half in loans and what not

I'm totally fine with Gallatin stats being lower. Better chance for me

the weak part of my application may have been my essay but im not sure im just glad to get in.

and my SAT II math wasnt so hot so maybe a combo of some of those things

omg so early! I cant believe it.. gosh ....
Your stats are unbelievable, I cant believe you just didnt get accepted directly to CAS. If you get GSPed.. holy crap.. I'm doomed.

I meant film/TV.

"Tisch's admissions is half academics and half artistic review."

I previously stated that.

is NYU admissions rolling?!?

hey congrats--- i'm wondering: all the people i know and have heard of here on cc who got into gsp applied as undecided majors. i'm kind of more impressed with gsp than the other schools and would love to go..... can any current nyu students clarify; do you think people referred to gsp are those undecided?

i wasnt undecided and i got referred to GSP

firewalker, like I said, most of what you've posted here is not true. You've been at NYU for what? 3 months? Don't post stats and info like this when you honestly don't know what you're talking about, starting with your post #13. You may be comparing the one or two people you know but your information isn't true when looked at school-wide. Your post #14 'insider information' has been rumored since before I applied to NYU in 2003. #17 says that Tisch kids are 'dependent on their portfolio' which would lead people to think that academics weren't considered, which isn't true. Your contention that their stats are the lowest, also untrue. Same with your 'hierarchy' in #21.

There's nothing wrong with GSP but you sure seem to have the need to defend it, for some reason. Why are you so worried about how GSP stats compare to everyone else? No need to prove yourself, honestly, no one really cares if someone is in GSP. It's a decision that each individual will have to make, when they get referred to GSP. After that, it matters little.

No, it doesn't matter if you indicate that you're undecided. That isn't a determining factor in being referred to GSP. The vast majority of GSP referrals are CAS applicants. There are a few in other schools but they're the definite minority.

And, no, NYU is not rolling admissions. These are decisions on E.D. applicants.

what were your stats when you got in?? I want to apply for ED but I don't know if I should considering my stats are low.

“firewalker, like I said, most of what you've posted here is not true. You've been at NYU for what? 3 months? Don't post stats and info like this when you honestly don't know what you're talking about, starting with your post #13.”

3 months have been enough for me to formulate my own take on how the schools operate.

“You may be comparing the one or two people you know but your information isn't true when looked at school-wide.”

More like ~20 people. Not to mention half of my floormates are in Tisch for either dance or film. I know it’s anecdotal, but it’s up to these prospective freshmen to decide for themselves.

“Your post #14 'insider information' has been rumored since before I applied to NYU in 2003.”

Do all these kids know all of this information? I highly doubt it. Therefore, it is not common knowledge.

“#17 says that Tisch kids are 'dependent on their portfolio' which would lead people to think that academics weren't considered, which isn't true. Your contention that their stats are the lowest, also untrue. Same with your 'hierarchy' in #21. “

It’s a fact Tisch kids are given leniency, in terms of grades, because their portfolio is such a crucial factor in their application process. My earlier statements are dependant upon the reader to either accept or reject.

”There's nothing wrong with GSP but you sure seem to have the need to defend it, for some reason. Why are you so worried about how GSP stats compare to everyone else?
I know there’s nothing wrong with GSP, however I have seen, firsthand, trash talking about the program. Some of the things I’ve heard were particularly vicious. Particularly from Tisch kids. The only reason why I may seem passionate about this is because GSP is in fact, highly underrated.

I would've killed to have someone like me posting last December when I was introduced to CC. Not many people are willing to tell it like it is; in the brutally honest way Ive been doing so for the past year or so on this board.

I called the admissions office today and the woman said that GSP decisions have not been sent out.

What the hell? Did they lie to me?

Or is the person who created this thread lying?
