I applied like the very last day I could.

ACT: 31
GPA: 3.95
Great ECs and good all the other stuff

Not my first choice but I really liked UW

jan 15? was last day right?

yeah, I applied jan 15 at like 11:00pm

D got acceptance package yesterday. Also accepted to U. of S. Carolina (Moore Business School).

Now comes Scholarship/FinAid decisions.

As parents we are split - one of us likes being close to her staying in-state (and tuition) with UW. The other wants to just let the financial bottom-line be the primary factor - again that may favor UW, but USC gives in-state status to anyone getting a scholarship of $500 per year.

Not yet prepared to make room deposit just yet.

got in.

GPA: 3.66(as on the website but 3.83 on my own transcript don't know wt happened)
SAT: 570cr, 750math, 620 writing 9essay
came from HK for 1.5 years. english is not my 1st language.
okay counselor rec (i guess), okay-good ec. music, sport, volunteer, red cross, other skills, etc.

hopefully some finaid to help me decide. :)

did all of you guys apply by dec.1st?

No, I didn't apply by 12/1, but I did apply by the end of January... Don't worry guys, I hear that UW has really random mailing system... some people didn't get their letters until mid-april :) Nevertheless, Good Luck!

ACT: nonexistent; GPA: 3.8; AP: US 5, Euro 5, (taking JP, Gov, C. Gov, Calc, & Chem) SAT II: Physics: 760, Math II 750, Chem:710, U.S. His: 770
Stuff: Debate, XC & Track, Robotics, internships, NHS, Founded some club, member of more, Symphony, volunteer at hospital and fair trade org. Work.
Other stuff: National Merit Finalist, speak 3.5 languages (including english, I don't think it's really relevant here but whatever,) came to US seven (?) eight years ago.

I got in but I have a question... How many classes do you take normally in UW? I know that at Hopkins, undergrads only take math and science for like a year (or maybe a semester, can't remember) and it's all pass or fail. Anyone?

Ahh... um, three per semester... I think, four to six if you're crazy

A full schedule is 15 credits, which is three five credit classes. Some people take 4+ classes that are worth lower credits and give less work (in theory).

I got accepted today, applied back on Dec 1

ACT: 26
GPA: 3.61
SAT: 630 (CR), 600 (Math), 630 (Writing)

How come my decision letter hasn't come yet? Our postal system here's whacked. I applied right before December 1 and sent my transcripts about two weeks after. So I should be getting my letter soon, right? I hope I do.

SAT: 740CR, 640M, 790W
GPA: 91-92ish (school doesn't do 4.0 scale)
Rank: Top 5% (not sure)/186

I'm pretty overqualified, I think. Haha. My financial aid award's not even finalized yet 'cause I got an email saying they have to verify my parents' income so I have to send in their tax returns. Sigh. Hassle.

Joanee49,

International admissions has some different issues/rules beyond stats. This is especially true for State Universities that can't have an uncapped number of foreign students admitted at the expense of state residents - even if those residents stats don't measure up.

I would have to say all schools have a 'quota' of international students - but not simply on the basis of diversity only (I would imagine that some states like Calif, Hawaii, even Wash) can fill a diversity quota from in-state applicants.

International applicants should recognize that they are not being admitted through the "big window" but rather through a smaller window where getting 2300-2400 on their SAT (don't discount big endowments from a rich relative) make it a much higher threshold to meet than an in-state resident.

This being said - international students should not be expecting an admission based upon stats that meet threshold admission standards.

Let's face it, if admissions were done on purely academic achievment the majority of all colleges in the U.S. (public/private) would be filled by majority of international students.

One word should be understood by any international student: Quota.

Oh sorry...I forgot to mention that I'm an American citizen...so technically I'm not considered International...but I guess I'm out-of state nonetheless.

I'll be eyeing our mailbox in the next few weeks. Hopefully my decision letter comes soon.

Accepted like two weeks ago, :)

Stats:
GPA:3.85 UW, 3.97 W
SATs: CLASSIFIED INFO, :/
AMAZING ESSAYS, AMAZING REC LETTERS, IMPRESSIVE EC's

I HAD A BIG CHALLENGE IN MY LIFE. BEGINNING OF JR YEAR, I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER AND I THINK THIS HELPED A LOT, CONSIDERING MY LOW SAT score, BUT THERE LOW B/C I COULD NOT PREP LIKE YOU GUYS COULD SINCE I WAS ON CHEMOTHERAPY OR VOMITTING, HEHE

I was accepted a little while ago, as well. Pretty excited to go to UW.

I applied in mid-January and am instate...
GPA: 3.7ish
ACT: 32

accepted to honors program :)

^Nice one. I wanted to apply to the Honors program but I got lazy. Hehe.

Anyway. I just got my acceptance letter today in the mail. I'm happy about that. I actually got emails like a week ago about Housing and the Husky Experience already and they were already saying that I was offered admission already. So this didn't come as a surprise.

I didn't realize that I could've checked the status of my application with my UW Net ID. I checked it today and they last updated it March 7 and it said I was accepted and all that. Haha stupid.
