Accepted

I know...but still...so many people on CC have heard already...

(I hope I'm just looking for an excuse to be nervous and that this is all in my head and that they already accepted me :))

^^ I agree.

Oh well, if I don't get at least a little scholarship money it's not a possibility anyway.
sigh

Congratulations on being a Ren. Scholar candidate. I received my early write accptance (RD) yesterday, but I didn't get any scholarship news. Based on your stats, I thought I had a chance at Renaissance scholarship. Is it not based on academic merit?
My stats: SAT-1 2380, GPA 4.0 (u.w.), Rank 2 out of some 450 kids, SAT-II's >750, APs etc.

I got in Early Write two days ago! So excited to take some classes at Eastman!

D got her acceptance letter.
SAT: 760 CR/720 M/770 W
ACT: 32 (33 with writing)
GPA: 3.6 UW, 5.3 W

No scholarship info yet.

Scalz, only 50 applicants are offered the scholarship and it's in the acceptance letter whether or not you're a finalist. I suppose they look at the whole picture, I wrote some really good essays and had raving reccommendations. It might also be just because of a regional thing, since I'm from a urban city in Georgia that might have helped. I'm also a first gen. and an African-American...so that also might have helped

I won't be getting any scholarship $$ for race, grades, or test scores...I'm not looking for it anyway...next to you guys, I definitely don't deserve scholarship money. However, I really hope that the U Rochester admissions committee feels that I deserve acceptance to the college.

LAWL

I feel the same way as HeavenWood. I definitely do not deserve scholarship money. But I hope I at least get into the college.

Are people using the term "early write" for some reason?

did you guys expect to get in? anyone enrolling for 2011?

No letter again today...

I just got my letter, ahh acceptance has never tasted soo sweet.
My stats aren't all that great, but whatever, I won't complain.

ACT:30
SAT 2: Math 1:630, Biology-M: 700, Literature: 590
GPA: 4.0/4.0, Rank 1
Many solid ECs with lots of leadership.
Hooks: well rounded with art, trumpet playing, and academics. I also attended Harvard last summer for some classes and did rather well.

Good luck to everybody who hasn't yet gotten their letter and congrats. :D

Congrats, where do you live? (State?)

Southeast Wisconsin so it seems. I'm really hoping that these letters are going out in no particular order.

I still don't get this "Early Write"?

Yeah I don't get that either. I just might prod in the wonders of google.

An early write is when a college selects its top applicants and notifies them earlier than the others to "hook" them; to snag the best ones early so they're more likely to go to their school.

I'm not sure of our situation. Either the early writes' decisions were sent out way earlier and we're just the others finally getting their responses, or since the response date was supposed to be more towards the middle of March, us who are boasting acceptance could be the "early writes." Please don't judge this speculation too harshly for it IS just speculation, I am not a member of the admissions committee so I have no clue what's really going on.

I got my acceptance letter and there was nothing that indicated it was "special"; I think this is just the first wave of regular admissions letters, not "early write" letters. (Though I've never heard of "early write" before now.) Check last year's forum- I don't think there's anything about early write.

So to those still waiting for their letters: don't worry and good luck. =)

Don't worry. Easy for you to say! :)

It's evident that the acceptances are going out in waves, but I'm not sure what the criterion is. All the acceptees so far have very good credentials, but so does my daughter, and she's still waiting (in NY state, so we can't blame geography). The admissions office is on its own timetable! And hey, why can't someone in the office be blogging? :D It's hard waiting, but there's nothing else to do at this point! Good luck to all those anxiously checking the mail!
