Accepted

Thought I would start an official thread for people who were accepted to the Class of 2011, either ED or RD. Hopefully we can keep it near the top and can use the formar used by a lot of other forums.

Please include
ED or RD:

ED or RD: RD
GPA: 3.6 UW 4.0 W
SAT/ACT: 2010
RANK: 63/503
ECs: XC, Soccer, Track, Key Club (President, VP, etc) & pages more of crazy EC's.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: waiting for the UC's, Claremont, USC, NYU, etc. American was not my first choice and still isn't.

Accepted RD
GPA: At my school, 4.0...but I'm not sure about Americans version.
SAT/ACT: 31
RANK: 4/237
ECs: Lots, but the most time consuming = NHS (president) and Relay For Life (Event Chair)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: I applied to a local school as a safety, NC State (accepted, not going), and Duke (deferred, haven't heard about final decision yet...doesn't matter because I'm going to AU). AU is definitely my first choice! I've already turned in my housing and enrollment application & deposit.
Didn't receive any financial aid, but my FASFA was wrong (way off on estimates, need to contact financial aid), but I did receive the Dean's Scholarship and an invitation to the honors program (definitely doing).

ACCEPTED RD to SIS with 18K Dean's Scholarship and Honors Program invite (hooray)
GPA: 4.15 weighted.. not sure the american way-- maybe a 3.9 uw
SAT/ACT: 2200: 690M/770CR/750W
RANK: 17/340
ECs: Lots -ish.. but 90% are political in some way.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: 95% definitely going to AU because it's the only place I applied where I can do both IR and Journalism hassle-free in top-notch nationally-recognized programs (also applied to Gtown SFS, GW whatever, JHU, Tufts + a few others that dont matter). Kind of nervous about the roommate draw, have to be honest. I'm hoping I meet someone cool at the Honors overnight BECAUSE i dont like my odds of ending up with a completely incompatible roommate haha.

ACCEPTED RD
GPA: 3.7, 3.8 ish
SAT:
ACT: 26
school does not rank
ECs: nursing home, NHS, SADD, history and govt, support our troops, lots of in school. as well as 2006 JSA georgetown session II

ALSO APPLIED TO: Boston College, College of the Holy Cross, Tulane, George Washington, Providence, and Fordham

ED or RD: RD
GPA:4.0 W 3.7 UW

rank: top 11%
ECs: not too many - Russian National Honors Society, Russian Olympiada, History Club, County Youth Orchestra, Strings Club
I applied to four other schools (U of I at Urbana-Champaign and at Chicago, University of Chicago, and GW) but American was definitely my first choice and I'll be going there.

Please include
ED or RD: RD
GPA: 3.93 uw/4.59 w
SAT/ACT: 2070/2400, 32
RANK: School doesn't rank but I'm in the top 9% for sure
ECs: Competitive piano, drama, NHS co-pres, Asian Am. Club co-pres, Band, Tap dance, lots of environment-related EC's
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: AU was my safety, but they offered me 22k a year (Frederick Douglass Scholarship) merit-based. I think most Fred. Douglass scholarships are need-based but my EFC was about 35-36k so I'm assume it's merit-based. I actually applied to 8 other schools with engineering as my intended major but I'm really rethinking that right now. Have not heard from 7 of them. AU with a double major in IR and env science sounds good at this moment... :p

ED or RD: RD
GPA: 4.0 unweighted, 4.35 weighted
SAT/ACT: 2190 SAT, 32 ACT
RANK: 2/601
ECs: Varsity Mock Trial (captain), yearbook (Editor-in-Chief), NHS (VP), California Scholarship Federation (President), Girl Scouts, District Strategic Planning Student Rep, Nixon Presidential Library Intern
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Right now AU is probably at the top of my list because i've been offered the Presidential Scholarship (25K per year) and have been accepted to the honors program. I've also applied to:

Cal Poly SLO (accepted)
UCLA (still waiting!)
UC Santa Barbara (accepted w/ full tuition scholarship)
USC (accepted)
UC Berkeley (still waiting!)
Northwestern (still waiting)
Boston U (still waiting)
GWU (still waiting)

What are everyone's intended majors. If I do attend AU I'd like to major in CLEG (communications, law, economics, and government), anywhere else i'll probably major in political science.

ED or RD: RD
GPA: 2.96 unweighted, 3.6 weighted
SAT/ACT: 2210 SAT
RANK: we dont rank, but around 60th percentile i think
ECs: bunch of random stuff, congressional page, page for state leg, nothing really significant though i dont think

but im going to GW, american wasn't a top choice

ED or RD: Regular
GPA: 96.77 (unweighted)
SAT/ACT: M620 CR560 W590 Essay:10
RANK: 3 out of 276

ED or RD: RD
GPA: 3.28uw/3.40w
SAT/ACT: ACT 33
RANK: 165/440
ECs: Mock trial awards, choir awards, work, Am Red Cross, other
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: I like AU, but it's not my first choice and is pretty expensive (got no aid). Accepted to several others and waiting on several. Determinant will be value = (fit + benefit for me) / cost.

ED or RD: RD
GPA: 3.7 (unweighted)
SAT/ACT: SAT reading (600) math (590)
RANK: 16/130
ECs: Varsity Swimming, FBLA, Model UN, National Honor Society, Key Club, Book Club
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: I like AU, I recieved alot of financial aid here, The only thing is I'm interested in science and this isn't the best school for that.

ED or RD: RD
GPA: 3.9 W, I have no idea what it is using AU's method
SAT/ACT: SAT -- 720 V, 710 W, 590 M (ouch!), SAT IIs -- Lit 690, USH -- 670, ACT -- 30 (this is superscored)
RANK: I'm not sure of the EXACT number b/c people have graduated early... I'm still in the top 15%. Last I checked, I was 133/898.
ECs: Yearbook (editor and my HUGE thing... I spend weekends and vacation time working on this darn thing!) and Choir
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Was not accepted into Honors (haha, not surprised :P) and received no aid. It wasn't my first choice. I had applied to 10 schools total and I eliminated half, AU being kept on my list. Once I got my acceptance, I eliminated it from the final 5 because of the lack of financial aid, need or merit based. Will most likely be attending Hollins (VA) w/ a nice scholarship that brings costs around 20k but would like to attend Bryn Mawr (don't know if I've been accepted yet). :)

Son is attending Honors Overnight program this Thursday and Friday (3/28 & 29).

GPA 3.6 unweighted (37/520)
ACT: 24 not impressive, 750 Spanish SAT II (Caucasian)
RANK: 37/520
EC: Long Distance Competitive Swimmer, Yearbook Staff, Exchange Student to Chile for 1 Academic Year, Vice President of Spanish Club
OTHER SCHOOLS: University of Texas at Austin.

I got this in the mail today, my letter of acceptance. Kind of sad that I didn't have the chance of going and visiting. I'll be at UT next year, and if that doesn't go well, I will go visit AU and consider transfering...
