Well the letter goes something like "On behalf of the entire U of Roch community, it is my pleasure to invite you to join our Class of 2009. Congratulations!... Meanwhile I encourage you to visit a special website just for our class of 2009, www.rochester.edu/2009." Says the usual stuff on keeping grades up, etc. The package itself is pretty fancy. They have some pamphlets & an admission reply form in it but nothing too important.
Congrats to everyone who got accepted!

thanks for the info, hopkinslax:)

i got in as well

NickyJane, what were your stats?

hopkinslax, do you go to Hopkins in CT?

FYI: spoke to an adcom today--the scholarship decisions will be mailed out on the 29th, so don't worry if you haven't gotten anything yet..

Also--has anyone tried to use their NETID yet? I called and got me student ID, but I can't log into the server yet.. Guess I might have to wait until May 1st...

No, when I joined the old CC a few years back I wanted to go to Hopkins ED, but then I realized that Hopkins is not the college for me because there are too many TAs and it was a little bit larger than I wanted for a college

i got my acceptance yesterday

more importantly, i opened my letter on the first try

mcoledb8, ok so some of us aren't as mechanically inclined as others (like myself) :p . Anyway, I really hope that the FinAid comes soon, I'm gettting nervous.

well i wonder if the ED kids will be getting the info about the open campus...maybe they dont want us to come...hehe

I still haven't heard back, and I live in Connecticut...I getting really worried that they sent all the acceptances and all the rejections are coming out this week...has anyone else still not heard back yet?

Yea I got my letter a whhile back I was confused with the folder at first. I almost ripped it apart.

If you wanna know anything else, let me know...oh yeah, and I'm from Rochester which actually makes a pretty big difference at UR or so I think b/c they are always throwing money at people I know with otherwise unremarkable stats!!!!

Nicky, what exactly is there to do in Rochester, and how would you say people look at the school up there?

Around here, people go nuts over U of R. Like, people ask me where I've gotten in, and I'll say something like "Ithaca, UPenn, U of R" and they're like OH MY GOD, U OF R! YOU MUST BE SOOO SMART!!!!!! So yeah people think it's fab. The University itself is sort of a city unto itself, not to say there isn't tons to do, but it is pretty big and self-contained. As for what there is to do in Rochester, I would say there is a lot. Granted, I kind of hate it here, but most people like it. In the Monroe and Park Ave. area, there's tons of coffee shops and bars for the 18+ crowd so it's always lots of fun to spend time there...and there's the usual stuff I guess, you know, malls, parks, etc. If you have any specific questions I can hopefully offer some insight!! :)

If you were to show someone "the sights" of Rochester, where would you go?

go to The Distillery!

Haha, it depends on what type of "sights" you're looking for!! There are definitely some cool places in terms of being pretty places to visit aka see. The high falls district has lots of cool clubs and restaurants and what not, and like I said Park Ave is the best for shopping or finding obscure lil restaurants. Beyond that, I would say that if you live in the roc you will become very familiar w/the spot coffee aka my lifeline...I'm there everyday doing homework, or hanging out. LOL, it seems like lots of UR students chill there too. Umm, there's malls and frontier field for soccer or baseball games too...what else? Bristol for (somewhat crappy) skiing, and you gotta hit up BG's for some grub too. Ohh, and of course, you gotta shop at Weggies!! Haha. Charlotte beach is always fun too during the summer (and spring/fall) for some volleyball or swimming if you're very brave!! Umm I'm not sure what else, it's hard to say what you might find interesting cus I've lived here my whole life and it's all REALLY boring to me! Haha

Hey NickyJane, I'm glad to here that U of R has a great reputation locally.

Our stats are similar. . . .my standardized tests are a little lower (650V 710M).

Is Rochester one of your first choice schools, I know you're applying to Cornell too.

After visiting several schools (U of R, Cornell, Columbia, RPI, Colgate, Union, BU) I think U of R is the most appealing school so far, because of their strengths in the sciences, and they really have the feel of a small college, inside a University. Plus, I'm looking forward to seeing my aid package.

Since I also applied to Cornell and Columbia, when I tell people my first choice at the moment is U of R. . . . either those that know a lot about the school tell me how great it is, or I get a weird look like I've just gone crazy, or someone will tell me, "Oh I know someone at RIT." The later two, get me kind of discouraged.

So, where are you anticipating going to school?
