i know that 1200 is WAY too low for consideration…but i have a lot in my background my GPA isnt that bad…and my counseler said for majoring in education…u dont need a high SAT score…but im concerned that i wont be accepted…:(

I applied to UMW Honors Program/early action in early January along with all of my friends. A couple of my friends have already gotten their acceptance letters, and I still haven’t received mine. Do they send all of the acceptance letters at once? My SAT’s were a total of 1800 and my GPA is a 3.92. Do I have anything to worry about?

They don’t have an Honors Program. They have Honors Admission, which is really just letting you know earlier that you got in. Admissions seems pretty scattered so you may hear something soon or you may be waiting until…whenever. Good luck.

D received acceptance letter yesterday! She applied 12/22/11, had a few lost/found documents which meant her app wasn’t really complete until 1/22, but they were extremely helpful, and her app was processed quickly.

How did they notify you that you had been missing items necessary for your application?

D received an email from Admissions stating documents were needed in order to complete her application.

Halfwayinthebox: AP exam scores have absolutely ZERO affect on your admission to any college. They are a completely separate component to the high school to college transition, unless you choose to report the ones you have taken junior or sophomore year. (Or freshman if you’re one of those crazy cool kids.) AP exam scores for senior year do not come in until your tuition is paid in full anyways, and it is highly unlikely they would rescind an acceptance and be forced to refund you your tuition over one exam.

Why do acceptances to this school seem so random? Is there a date when they mail bulk out? It appears to be in onesy-twosy with no logical order with regards to when an applicant submitted or how their stats line up. D applied to 8 schools. This one being the only in-state. She has heard something back from every place except this one. Not even a thanks for applying (though we know they received her application)

Ada–I’m so sorry you have been frustrated by UMW. I have heard this from other people, some applications seem to get super quick action and others languish for so long people are left to wonder if something has been lost. Good luck, I hope you hear something soon!

D received notice of acceptance on 23 Feb. It was Honors Admission.

The big, fat envelope was the mailbox today! Mary Wash was DS’s first choice. He wanted to go to his big sister’s school. With two there, I think I’ll just start endorsing my paycheck over to the bursar.

Finally! Accepted. Big Decisions ahead.

I’m just browsing through this thread as a former student :). Congrats to those admitted!
It is baffling to me the way they “trickle” out their acceptances. I have been hearing of acceptances…2 and 3 at a time since January. As a prospective student that would drive me batty!! I haven’t heard one denial. I wonder if they send those out last? Of course it makes sense that those decisions aren’t shared publicly…

I do wish this sub forum had a university rep like other schools…

At any rate - congrats to those accepted!
