Accepted

Oh no, just excited that viper was in, his situation is kinda like mine

Sorry to be misleading lol

For those that got accepted, did you get some sort of notice via e-mail? Just wonder since I am tired of checking my app status daily. OSU is a great place for me :)

Holy mother of fast, I LOVE OSU!

Received my application December 02, On December 06 it went into evaluation, and December 10 I was admitted!

RobertKKap 3.9 Unweighted GPA; 15 of 622 rank; 2210 SAT; in-state; ridiculous amounts of leadership, extra curric, etc.

Blame your SAT for the quick turnaround. OSU is obviously just like "Oh, 2050 or 30+, in." Nevermind that the kid might not have done anything for four years. Obviously you did, but I get the feeling that they wouldn't care if you didn't.

I'm just still holding out hope.

Handyandy - Why would you find it unusual that high test scores, grades, class rank and course content would result in a fast acceptance? While ECs are valuable and can certainly sway a decision in a student's favor, the top predictor of academic success in college is academic success in high school. I doubt that OSU is unique in that regard, no matter what the PR folks at some schools might say.

I don't think it's unusual, and I realize the necessity of it with a school of OSU's size. I guess I just hoped that the process would be a bit more humane. They're obviously putting off people's applications, like scout's, who are very good candidates for the school, and just moving straight to their big numbers applicants. There are probably plenty of people like scout who are likely going to be admitted that have been waiting for weeks if not months for a decision, and OSU probably still has their apps sitting in a pile. Then there are kids like RobertKap (no offense, you're just a good example) who turned their apps just a few days ago and already have a response. I just think it would be more fair to make the decisions on a more chronological basis.

It's true that time should be more of a factor somehow.

On the other hand, one can see why time can't really be a prime factor. When x thousand kids apply for a spot and there are only y thousand spots available (y << x) then they have to look at test scores and figure out where their cutoff is going to be that year. It follows then that the ONLY kids they could let in are kids they KNOW without doubt are way above the cutoff. Even normally solid candidates might need to wait because OSU might have a random influx of only amazing candidates or some such. If they let even those who are well-qualified but maybe not the absolute top in early, they might get burned when it turns out ALL the students who apply that year are of above-average caliber, you see? The extra time allows them to normalize their distribution.

On the other hand entirely, I'm rooting for you scout!

Now, where Handyandy is absolutely right is that things besides test scores numbers should matter a whole lot, and I trust that Ohio State has the resources and quality of admissions staff to ensure that applicants are evaluated on more than just scores. Things like date of app submitting, extra-curric's, etc.

It's a tough spot, and I imagine Admin Staff probably hate sitting on those piles of apps too.

Thanks for the support you guys...

I will definitely be posting my decision on the board...

For better or for worse.

w00t! I made it in! Just checked this morning and surprised to see it get out of evaluation

Did he choose the option to enroll at one of Ohio's regional campuses so that he'll be able to transfer back to the Columbus campus after meeting the requirements?
