Hey guys i got my answer 2 days back......im in.....im definitely enrolling....
do the experienced ones have any tips for me ?? any dos and donts?

your stats…

Congratulations! Advice? Keep your priorities straight and don’t get sucked into the partying culture. Have fun, but put first things first. Seek out help --academics, internships, social activities, or whatever–if you need it. IU has terrific resources, but sometimes you have to take the initiative to find out about them. Your experience at IU will be largely what you choose to make of it.

Oh yeah…i know its a party college and all that…i wont have much time to party cause i will need to work hard to get that scholarship and also to get into the honors program…

As for my stats…
SAT CR+MATH: 1390
TOTAL: 1980
TOEFL : 110/120

GPA: 3.7
Highschool top 10%
International Student from India
Loads of ECs ranging from interstate athletics to model united nations…

I also wanted to know…i want to increase my chances for the loads of internal scholarships…will it help to give my SAT again (hopefully a full score) or do they only consider the score during admissions…

from the scholarship website:

“The scholarship received will be based on a student’s residency and academic criteria at the time of admission.”

I take this to mean that the numbers they used to admit you are the numbers for scholarship consideration.

The admissions letter that everybody receives states that updated SAT and ACT scores and improved GPA’s will be considered for new or increased IU scholarships if received by February 1, 2008. It’s in the section called Academic Measure Updates.

I assume you are coming here for Kelley. Did you apply to UVA,UMich etc?

If you are a Kelley student and direct admit (you will be I’m sure), I suggest you plan to take at least one business honors course (preferably two) each of your first three semesters–and mix these with general education non-honors courses for the first two semesters. If you can handle the workload easily, then add more honors courses if you want.

Oh, and the other thing is to study ahead of time for Tillers A100 course. This has been discussed on collegeconfidential before, so just search for it here on the Indiana threads during the past year.

Also, if you do plan to go into Investment Banking, take the Computer in Business Honors course and Business Calculus courses early–and study hard. These courses are critical to doing well in the Investment Banking field.

Mostly, though–heed Susantm’s advice–college is what you make of it–so take advantage of all they school offers and try to enjoy your time while there.

Good luck.
