I went on the computer today at school just to check out the UCF page to make sure everything was in place and that nothing was missing, and I find out that I have been accepted.

I was so happy, but I had to contain my enthusiasm, because I was in a quiet room with people working.

UCF has always been my first choice school. I will be attending the summer 2009 term, not because I could not get in for the fall, but because I wanted to get ahead of the other freshman and be comfortable with the campus before fall.

I have a few questions though for those who have been through this before or who are going through the process now:

Will financial aid pay for my $200 deposit?

Does sending in the deposit before May 1 offer any benefits-- scholarships... etc?

How long does it take to hear from UCF about acceptance into the Honors College? I will be sending in the app. by the end of this month.

I have not even received my acceptance letter in the mail yet, but I am just so excited I want everything to be turned in as soon as possible.
I have also already submitted my FAFSA.

Thanks for reading this, and please respond if you have any answers or general advice about UCF!

Congratulations jess0990!!!!!
I remember how excited my daughter was this time last year when she learned that she had been accepted (since it was her first choice too).
I don't think that financial aid will pay the admissions deposit but perhaps someone else here knows better. I do know that Florida Prepaid dorm plan will pay your Fall dorm deposit but not your summer deposit. You were smart to start in summer. It makes thing sooo much easier and more comfortable in Fall when the campus is crowded and the classes are harder.

Financial aid won't pay for the deposit, but if you have aid leftover (like bright futures and/or a Pegasus scholarship) that will be refunded to you, the money will come back.

Don't bother sending in your money early because it doesn't do anything for you. You might as well wait till April after you've received all of your other decisions and you're sure you want to go to UCF.

When I sent my application for the honors college, I think it took about 3-4 weeks to get a decision. I sent the app in January. It's very excruciating because you can only find out when the letter comes (not online) and the decision comes in a thin, standard envelope, so you have no idea whether you got in or not until you open the letter!

JerseyShoreMom - I sent in my application only two weeks ago, so once those transcripts are in your daughter should know right away. Hopefully she will get in!!

FSU's decision is December 3rd, my D applied there too. UCF is her #1, we really liked FSU but I'm afraid it might be a little too remote for quick trips home.

Thanks Jess! Transcripts were sent last week and scores and application are already in and accounted for.

Both schools are slight reaches for her, based on her OOS status and average test scores. She has excellent EC's and recommendations though!

D fell in love with the Event Management major at UCF and the very fun feel on campus when we visited. It's out of the Rosen school which is gorgeous!!

We both fell in love with the Dedman School of Hospitality at FSU! The classes were right there overlooking the football stadium, complete with restaurant and rooftop deck! Oh, what a site! I was excited for D because the hospitality juniors and seniors get to WORK there during football games!!

DS#3's acceptance is online. YAY!!!
Now it's wait for (hopefully) Pegasus scholarships and honors college invitation. His stats are way up there, so hopefully things will settle out soon, and we can breathe.

He still hasn't finished his app to UF. He needs to get on that. I think he's leaning UCF, in any case. But... An ACCEPTANCE! YAY!

Remember that to get into the Honors College you need to request an application (or they will mail you one in a few weeks), and that needs to be filled out along with another essay... and then his status will be determined.

Congrats to you!!
May I please get some advices from you guys?
I applied for UF 2009 Spring term, unfortunately I didn't get approved.
I am a student from Palm beach community college, and I am planning to graduate from an AA in December 2008.
GPA :3.7
Transfer GPA: 3.68
Transfer Major in UF: Accounting
Transfer Term: 2009 Spring
Result: REJECT
I am so unhappy right now, because I really thought I had the chance.
However, I am going to apply UF again for 2009 Fall term. I hope I will be accpeted this time.
Also, I am applying FSU for 2009 Fall term as well.
Beside Phi Theta Kappa member and Dean's list, I don't have anything else that's really shining. Oh, and I am just a permanent resident, not even citizen yet. Asian ethnic.
Thank you !

Hi!
I applied to UCF about 3 weeks ago and I haven’t heard anything back yet…
My SAT score is only 1000.
But my high school GPA is a 4.0.
I also had ECs and volunteer hours at a vet listed in my application and I was in the Early College Program through my junior and senior years where I took all college credits at a local community college and earned my AA degree when I graduated high school.
I’m worried because a lot of people told me I would find out if I got in within 2 weeks and I haven’t…
Please let me know if there’s any hope!!! I so nervous.
Thank you. :)
