I just got my honors college invitation today along with the presidential scholarship. Stats below for anyone who's wondering.

female, Puerto Rican, small private school, PA
GPA: 3.93 unweighted
SAT: CR-730, Math-730, Writing-770, TOTAL: 2230
ACT: 33

national merit letter of commendation
3 sport athlete, basically a theatre and music geek

Just wondering, what are everyone's number 1 picks here since all of us applied by VIP?

Congrats on your scholarship! Not every VIP applicant gets it -- as is the case for my son who got in via VIP, but only small ($2k per year) scholarship. You had great stats though (ACT - wow!) so I'm not surprised.

Well the presidential scholarship is $12k spread out over 4 years. So really it's $3k per year for four years or until you graduate whichever comes first the paper said.

Just keep looking in the mail. Do you live in an area notoriously slow for mail? I know I do and that usually delays things by at least a couple of days. If you don't receive anything by next week, I would call the admissions office and ask politely if all of the application materials had been received. They may not have processed your son's application if something from the school was a little late. I know my one friend had that problem with the guidance counselors at my school sending materials in late for her early decision.

Just checked the website and he's admitted (they posted it overnight). Yay. Yes, the guidance department at his school screwed up BIG TIME. They sat on the teacher recommendation for a month even after my son and I checked on a number of occasions to confirm it had been sent. I finally went down there last week and watched them fax it. Anyway, the news is good. Good luck to everyone. Vermont is awesome.
