<p>Daughter got in and got a Presidential Scholarship which is kinda amusing. Albany is not her first choice and was actually a safety for her. She doesnt have a great GPA, about 3.45 unweighted but did will on SATs 780CR, 610math, 750 writing and 31ACT. Surprised about the scholarship as was completely unexpected. Unfortunately probably won’t change her or our mind re Albany. Both my wife and I went there but or arts and sciences is a midlevel SUNY and a bit of a party school (not that any school cant be). Unlike most people in PA, I do not want to go to Penn State ( 100 kids in my class go there each year).</p>
<p>Actually, Albany is very selective. Only 47% got in. I would expect Albany will continue to accept fewer and fewer applicants. Albany has the #1 nano program in the world. Albany leads all the other SUNYs in research dollars ($300+ Million). SUNY Albany is a serious research university. Ranked 49th in the country in total dollars and that is without a med school. Just giving you the facts.</p>
<p>I got accepted today and am considered a *“Frederick Douglass Scholar”<a href=“whatever%20that%20is”>/I</a> with a $5,000 merit scholarship. I still don’t want to go here lol, too many people from my school end up here -___-</p>
