Whoo hooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got as well!!!!! this is so cool! Maryland is my absolute dream school!

Thanks din!

My daughter got spring admission. Not bad considering her school does not weight for any of her honors courses, so her GPA is less than stellar

Stats:
3.45 UW (10 honors and 3 AP courses)
SAT: 2000/2400
Out of state

I believe the admissions packets may be arriving over the next couple of days. I am looking at the College Park Scholars information page on the timeline for accepting the invitation to the program, and it states that on Feb. 1, 2009, "Students Receive University of Maryland Admission Packet." I imagine questions will be answered then as to what major kids have been admitted to, whether there are invitations to honors or Gemstone or scholars, etc. Link for that page is College Park Scholars

bluehen89....spring? thats awful. w/ a 2000 SATs and 10 honors and APs im shocked

hey I got accepted for fall and "invited" to university honors program, gemstone, and honors humanities..

a friend of mine got accepted and into college park scholars program

what are the differences between these programs (scholars vs honors)?

ooooh ok i see the answers to this!

Await notification from the Office of Student Financial Aid.

* One to two weeks after we receive your SAR data, we will review your data and determine if we need to clarify or verify any of your information. If we do, we will send you a request for additional documents. Please make sure you provide the student’s name and social security number and all required signatures on all documents, especially tax forms.
* In April and May we will start sending students Financial Aid Notifications which includes an award letter and instructions on applying for student loans.

(SAR is fafsa, of course)

i dont understand why they release scholarship info so late.. most schools send it with the decision letter

Thank you so much for your kind words about my daughter. She would have loved to receive fall admissions, but she is also relieved to have not been rejected. She did not get into Penn State, and we live in Pennsylvania.

It said that she was also on the waitlist for fall admissions. Not all spring admits got on the waitlist, so we are hopeful. I thought they stopped doing waitlist.

She will definitely consider starting in the spring. However, rather than doing the Freshman First program, she would probably stay at home and take classes at a local college. Although we live in Pennsylvania, we are literally 5 minutes from Maryland. She could possibly take classes at a CC in Maryland for her first semester. This is going to be a tough decision for her. She will surely be depressed in the fall when all her friends go off to college and she is stuck at home. We also have to think about the very large price tag that Maryland includes.

She has lots to think about.

Our mail just came and there was a big white envelope from Maryland, but it was not the admissions letter--instead two booklets about financial aid.

does it actually say you were accepted to your respective majors or just maryland in general? mine just says maryland.

dino when did you apply for college park??
i turned in my apps on dec 1st

mine just says maryland and then something about being invited to join the CIVICUS program

DiN009: Thank you so much for that link!!!!! My son was accepted, also got into Miami today (with money). He was a little bummed his best friend got a snail mail packet from Maryland today, and your link put a big smile on his face! He's now gotten into to all his top choices. UMD is my first choice for him, so I'm a little bit on cloud 9 myself!

Accepted! (OOS)
Thanks a-million for the link.

NYmom...congrats on your DS. Ours also applied to UMiami, we got the scholarship money in the packet and were thrilled, it came out to almost a free ride. UMD on the other hand left us with picking up our jaws...8K total for President.

Just found out last night. Through the same link (I had it bookmarked as well, i ws surprised when it actually showed a decision so soon). Got into Scholars, which I didn't know existed. What's considered better, Honors or Scholars? My sister (an Honors alum) seems to think that Scholars is more group-oriented, but she wasn't completely sure.

Hey, just checked my email and I received a "Welcome to the University of Maryland" email about an hour ago - so they are also contacting people directly.

It says that the official letter of admission will be received by mail in the next few days.

It will probably be a while - as I am in Canada - but at least I know it is coming!
