Scholars is a living learning program like Honors. Honors is the highest out of the three. People who elect not to participate in group projects are automatically knocked out of gemstone and might be assigned to scholars.

Scholars does have weekly seminars and you do write papers and receive credit for the colloquium. The programs are limited in number of studenst. i.e International relations has limited numbers as does govt. DS is in Govt and politics, and he has stated there are @60. If you elect to leave the program don't expect to get back in, since there is a waitlist for it

Scholars live in Cambridge community, Gemstone is in Denton and I believe Honors is Anne Arundel. You all will move in 1 day prior to the general admission. Your orientation is held at different time also.

I am a little overwhelmed by all this - our system in Canada works much differently - so i was hoping someone could let me know....

the specialized programs ie Honors, College Park Scholars and Gemstone - are you automatically considered by your application, or do you have to specify you want to be included.
Also if you are in these programs, does it mean you have to live in the specific dorms you have outlined?
I was accepted to the university but it did not say anything else.
My SAT's were M:690 CR: 670 and Writing: 590
I have an A average.

If you are in these programs the dorms are set aside for them...however, if they have too many students and not enough dorm rooms the will start filtering in students that are not a part of the specialty programs.

Since you are international it might be totally different in the acceptance process.

My son got accepted and into CP Scholars (he's history and government so I guess that makes sense). He's very happy since he'd been deferred (early applications) at Cornell ILR and SUNY Binghamton and was joking that he'd end up at our local community college :-). Still waiting to hear from Delaware, then see if the others decide to accept him.

We're in New York so I'd rather he go to one of the New York schools (keep his NY Regents scholarship), and even Delaware was a much better drive. But we'll see what happens. I think UMD was up at the top of his list.

It says on my admission site that I got into the major of Letters & Science. It turns out thats for people who are undecided. And I'm pretty sure I didn't apply undecided so I'm really confused...anyone help me?

letters and science is for people who didnt make it into the college they applied to (i.e. Smith Business), but still met the requirements to make it into UMD

How do I connect to the link that tells you if you were accepted? I can't seem to find it on this site. I applied Early and haven't heard anything yet.

hey everyone...so i applied early action to maryland and EVERYONE is saying they've gotten in! ...but when i go to the MD website and click on "check your admission decision" i get the following message...

"We are unable to offer you a decision on your application at this time. You will be contacted as soon as the decision process is complete.

Thank you for your interest in the University of Maryland."

does this mean i didn't get in or what?????????????
i have a 3.85 GPA 1950/1290 SATS.

JK, I am in a similar situation.
i think we just need to wait a little bit ( like a week or so)
maybe they have not had a chance to input all the names of the accepted applicants and it is only the beginning of February.

like everyone at my school has gotten an acceptance from that website. i just dont understand why the decision hasn't been made yet. does anyone know when the decision letters will arrive?

i'm so confused why everyone else is finding out. I really hope my application was marked as priority and something did not happen. I know for sure- I did all my parts for priority deadline.
