Anyone else in for '14 and know they're going for sure??

wow you’ve decided so early!

im applying and my stats are good enough to get in, it’s one of my top choices, but ill let you know in like april haha

what’s your intended major?

^ Good luck dude. Hope you make it in too.

As for major, I put Exploratory down on the application. It’ll most likely be something english related; I might try and get into Journalism.

This is so cool! I’m like mad excited now.

What were your stats?

3.85 GPA, Top 3% of class, all AP’s + Dual Enrollment, 35 ACT, Decent EC’s

loonlake, when you received your acceptance, with your stats, you most likely got an offer to hutton …what is involved in applying to the honors college, or any scholarships… does it require essays etc.

^ I didn’t get anything about that. I am however interested in it.

*****From the hutton honor college website:

If you are invited, our official HHC invitation packet will be mailed to you a few weeks after you have been formally admitted to IUB. The packet includes a return postcard for you to send us if you wish to accept our invitation. You will have until May 1, 2010 to return the HHC acceptance postcard.

You can find out much sooner about your eligibility for the HHC as well as the Selective Scholarship Application (the SSA is the means for applying for the HHC Scholarship as well as other programs and scholarships) in an Office of Admissions email sent to you as soon as that office has made an admissions decision.

Once you have followed the email’s directions on how to set up your OneStart account and how to access the SSA, you will see which programs and scholarships you are eligible for (including the Hutton Honors College). You will have only 30 days from the time the IUB Office of Admissions email is sent to you to complete the SSA, so be sure to watch for that email!

****So if you got an email with your acceptance you may want to check it to access your account as there is a time limit of 30 days. i’m not absolutely sure of the requirements but would think your stats make it a possibility.

I got accepted too! GPA 3.43, 29 ACTs, 1900 SATs. So excited, my first choice! And in 3 weeks no less! Congrats to anyone else who gets in!

^ Awesomeee. Congratulations!

So are you going?

I got rejected haha

^ You have very similar stats to me. Now I’m scared.

Dudee yesss! I was getting tired of waiting. I will VERY likely be coming to IU next year.

Follow up question:

What is involved on the SSA application? How many essays, recs, short writes, etc. are required?

Regarding the SSA application: I recall DD sent in two recommendations. One needed to be from a non-teacher. Since she was writing numerous essays for admissions at the time, I don’t recall specifically what went to IU. I believe it was one longer essay and perhaps one or two shorter type essays.

One word of advice though: look for YOUR deadline. Everyone has a different deadline based upon the admission date.

Please pardon my ignorance. What is a SSA?

Selective Scholarship Application. Typically when an admit presents with stats that make him/her eligible to apply for the selective scholarships they will receive an application along with the admissions packet and an email notification.

thank you rrah.

not sure if you would remember this, but when you say “non-teacher” for recs can it be someone who sponsors your activity, even if that activity happens to be a class too? for example, im editor-in-chief of the newspaper and ive known the teacher for 3 years now. i would really really like for him to write me a recommendation. but newspaper is both an out-of-school commitment and a graded class (even though pretty much everyone gets As). would he be okay to write me a rec in addition to an academic teacher?

just got my acceptance email and SSA info. 3 essays, 2 recs, activities list, etc. I wish they’d have given this to me from the beginning so i would have more than a month to complete it (mine’s due on halloween, others are different). however my teacher recs aren’t due until mid november.

how come they didnt say anything about the automatic scholarships? i know im in line to get that $9000 one, but it would have been nice just to see it in writing. how long do i have to wait for that, just so im sure there aren’t any loopholes or anything?

also, does hutton often give scholarships to kids they accept into the college? or do only some really cream-of-the-crop admits get money? i know they only give like 1-2k most of the time, but it adds up.

How long did you admissions decision take for them to email you the response? I just applied and sent my transcript and socres todayy…
