Thanks!! I applied on 9/23/09-so I am shocked to hear back so soon! I applied on 8/31/09 to MSU and Purdue and 9/1/09 to UW and Minnesota. Still no word from any of them!

Status of Application
You have successfully submitted your application. Please refer back to this page periodically to check your status.
Congratulations! You’ve been admitted to Indiana University. You should receive your admit packet in two to four weeks.

D is in… 3.7 uw, 1260/1600. Applied mid September. Very excited, now waiting for admissions packet. No desire for Hutton, just wants to go to IU.

The application does not have essays or recs. My D didn’t send any. Seems like it’s taking as little as 2-3 weeks, but they are also probably VERY busy right now so I would not expect that quick a response at this point. BUT…if you have ANY hint you’ll qualify for scholarships, they prefer to receive your application prior to November 1! So get crackin’! They will CONSIDER you for scholarships after that date, provided there are funds left. You can look at their scholarship page to see if you qualify for their “automatic” scholarships. If you also qualify to apply for Selective Scholarships - they will advise you of that along with your acceptance letter and you have 30 days to complete another, more thorough application that does require (3?) essay questions, plus (2) recs.

i called the office and they said they are currently going through applications submitted in the 20s of october. but later on i got an email saying they’ve received it =)

ilovefhf, I got that email too! Do you know if that means that they’re going to look at the application soon, or if it’s just a confirmation that they got it? I’m so anxious to find out whether I got in! (crossing my fingers)

My daughter submitted her application on October 18, but had her higher ACT score of 30 sent after she got it back. I’m assuming they got it by now. When I called to find out last week, the admissions person said “She didn’t apply by the Nov. 1 deadline”. HUH? At the time I knew it was before that—just not sure of the date. “Nope”, she said. It says right here November 4th". Hmmmm. My daughter called when she got home and after some paper shuffling her original admission date was found. They had apparently updated it on the 4th. I’m still not sure if they had the upgraded ACT score. I hope so because that’s what will get her the $9,000 scholarship. (Not that it will help a lot since we’re OOS in California. )

Is there a portal on IU online that my daughter can check the status of her application and if her higher score was received? Also, at the time her transcript and counselor form wasn’t available for the admissions person, but she said they were still going through all of them. Her counselor personally mailed them himself in late October.

It’s good you called. I’m sure a University of that size is SWAMPED right now. Can you imagine all the details for all their applicants? My guess is that the school processed it properly, you just got someone who couldn’t READ it properly. I’ll bet they employ dozens of temps or students whose job it is just to read and input this stuff. Of course…I don’t KNOW that. So you do have to watch out for your own one child, especially in this electronic age. I was flustered when I found out that my D was applying everywhere online, and that scores would be sent online from another place (and you HOPED they matched up), and recs from another, etc. I think ONE envelope with EVERYTHING in it just seems so much simpler. But, then …I’m old and simple.

At any rate…it’s sorted AND their website says they ARE still accepting apps with scholarship consideration so hopefully you’re golden. I’m sure there are SO many people in this same boat. I myself just sent an updated SAT II score for my D…in the hopes they’ll get it added before any selective scholarship considerations.

All this stress is why I made my daughter do her stressing EARLY, then just sit back and not worry while everyone else was starting to panic. Even then, I’d have liked her to be a LOT earlier!

2leashes, I think they can tell you what SAT/ACT scores they have for her over the phone. They did for my son when he sent in a higher score after first applying with a lower score.

I’m pretty sure they said her new score had arrived. But then when she informed me (incorrectly) that my daughter hadn’t applied until Nov. 4, I got a bit flustered and honestly can’t remember what she told me now re; the score. I think my daughter said they HAD received it (after she called back with proof of her October 18th application)…and even though her transcripts weren’t sitting right there, they’re supposedly somewhere else with others being sorted through. WE hope! :)

It doesn’t matter if your daughter got her application in by November 1st for 9k. Because according to their website they are still handing out scholarships to students who applied today.

I’m just curious when they might let my daughter know if she was accepted or not. If she applied October 18, do you think it will be soon if they have all her scores and transcript? This is the first school she applied to and still her top choice.

2Leashes - My daughter submitted her application on August 25th, but her transcript, etc. didn’t get there until October 30th. She got an accepted email yesterday. Hope that helps.

I spoke too soon! She just got an email acceptance today. Official packet to be sent in a couple weeks via snail mail. I imagine she’ll hear about the IU automatic scholarship, too.

I’m trying not to get too excited for her just yet. I know IU is her first choice, but I told her we need to find out what California schools she’s accepted to and how much they’ll be. She’ll be waiting till April to hear back from most of them. So, I just don’t want her to call IU “her school” quite yet. :)

Then there’s the issue of her going so far away for undergrad school. Just the logistics. Flying back and forth. Not being able to visit on a random weekend, etc. Also, just taking her out to college to set up her dorm won’t be like if she were a few hours away from home. How do you manage to do that from across the country? As you can see, I’m the one with cold feet. ;-)

But, for now—we’re happy she got accepted! At least we know she’ll be going to college somewhere, providing we can afford it.;-)
