Accepted!

When do classes start?

Congrats everyone!!!
Here’s a link that should help answer lots of questions [Office of the Registrar | Tulane University - New Orleans, LA](http://registrar.tulane.edu/) This page will link you to upcoming academic calendars, fees, etc. And use the Tulane travel portal [Tulane University - Travel Portal](Tulane Portal – Campus Travel Management) for info on discounts at hotels, on car rental, etc. And congrats, AVHSdad!! Having had one kid at each of the 2 schools you mentioned above, let me assure you your s, if he chooses Tulane, will be a happy camper. Congrats everyone!!

I got in today having applied Nov.

but I sent in the stuff in Jan. (I didn’t know)

my stats

GPA - 3.55
SAT - 1560/2290

Any idea if I will get honors scholarships etc?

My counselor justified my GPA with my circumstances

congrats to everyone admitted

Congrats azzajack! I don’t think any of us can give you a qualified opinion on your chances at Honors Program and Merit Scholarship money. Obviously your SAT’s put you in the top tier, but since we don’t know the circumstances on your GPA (and I’m not asking), we just wouldn’t see what the committee saw. Best of luck, though!

thanks fallen,

my circumstance actually seems pretty light on paper, but it did affect me.

Tulane says that they care more about rank than GPA, but my school does not rank so I really don’t know how important my grades will be.

Money is very crucial to me as I am <$50k so I hope that financial aid is good.

I have heard that they are generous for those under $75k

Best of Luck to everyone

azzajack - I am no expert on this, but you should be able to go loan free then. Now financial aid calculations are more complicated then just income I guess, but look at the following link if you haven’t already.

[Tulane Admission: Scholarships & Aid](http://admission.tulane.edu/aid/index.php)

See the section on the No Loan program. It only requires that you are accepted, not that you have tippy-top stats. Hope that helps!

I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask, but since Fallenchemist seems to be well versed in all things Tulane it seemed like a good a thread as any…

How do the Tulane Scholarships and Financial aid combine?
I recieved a 25k/yr, but I also have acute financial need. Will the scholarship cover my EFC or will It just replace the “Grant Aid” I may have recieved and leave me paying what I would have paid in the first place?

Thanks again for all of your help!

Congrats on the $25K!
EFC is EFC, it doesn’t get reduced by merit/scholarship aid. However check fallenchemist’s link above your post for info on Tulane’s “no loan” program to see if you qualify.

What AVHS Dad said. Sorry Tilgaham, it would sure be nice if it were the other way! Technically it doesn’t replace the Grant Aid, it is the Grant Aid, at least partially. I know what you meant, it wasn’t based on need, but it is still a scholarship/grant, and an asset that you now declare, if you want to look at it that way.

I hope it all works out for you, you sound like you would be a great addition to Tulane!

Tilgaham,
Read this [Need-Based Scholarship](http://www.tulane.edu/~finaid/idxneed_NOLA_scholarship.htm) about Tulane’s no-loan grants for families with AGI’s under 75K.

DW called to say we received the fat package today and proceeded to read me the details: Honors Program AND $22K Merit!!!
We’re for sure going to honors weekend, now we just have to pick March or April.
WOOT!!!

congrats on the scholarship and honors

and thanks for the $$$ info guys

AVHS - Really great! Super congrats.

AVHS Dad, same for me! I’m so pleased with the $22k as I had no idea what to expect. Think I’m headed for the April honors weekend. =D

ACT: 32
UW GPA: 3.71
Hispanic
Male

Distinguished Scholar ($22K/year) + Honors Program

ansar and illinoisgirl324: That’s crazy and wonderful that you both got the same as DS. Too dang cool!

Illinoisgirl - Don’t forget also that since you will almost no doubt be a National Merit Finalist (95% of SM become finalists), that is another $2,000 a year from Tulane. Again, congrats.

People who win the $20K Founders Award don’t get into the Honors Program? I ask because I don’t see any mention of it in ds’s letter. The only visiting info is about Destination Tulane.

Congrats on the scholarship, youdontsay!!! Yes, unfortunately there are kids that get scholarships but not admission to the Honors program. But he can take honors classes and can, with good grades, request to be placed in the Honors program. Good luck!!

^Congrats to all who received $$! It is sweet given so many schools are tightening their belt on FA.

jvm626, what is the selection criteria/process for the Honors Program?
