What is “earnest money”?

For the dormitory is $300
For the tuition is $250
And these money do not refund.

Thank you. Do you get to request the dorm you want when you send in the deposit?

pizaow, are you a male or female?

Nick10:
nope, The $300 just means I have a chance to have a dorm, not request.

Nick10, male.

pizaow, are you from California? USF is my first choice as well. It is so expensive, though. I wonder if they give any financial aid. Does anyone know if USF is generous with financial aid?

Also, pizaow, what is your intended major?

Yeah, I’m from norcal. I live about an hour from SF. Communications/journalism.
And I totally agree, USF is pricey. Hopefully I get enough aid.

i heard that USF gives generous aid… i think maybe over 70% of students get aid?

I did not apply aid. but i know one got $13000, master, computer science.

That is good to hear that USF gives 70% aid and is generous. It costs so much money compared to SFSU. I am hoping that the bottom line, after aid, USF will be in the same ballpark as SFSU. I don’t plan on getting any aid from SFSU being out of state and all.
Thanks everyone. Have a great day.

got accepted today

skazu27, congratulations.

Is USF your first choice college? Are you in state? male or female?

actually, through USNEWS’s rankings USF is my last choice.
Although i have been accepted by my first choice school, i decided to go to USF.

nick10, personally, USF is much better than SFSU.

deitycherry,

Thank you so much. It really helps make the choice so much easier. Just curious, why did you decide on USF if it’s your last choice?

received their acceptance email a week ago but receive their official letter TODAY
got in as a transfer - communication major
anyone else got in as a transfer ?

nick10
Yes im from california. Live in Los Angeles, CA. Male. Not sure if its my first choice. There are other colleges that I am waiting for decision. Im probably gonna visit the campus in april though.

My son is a junior at USF majoring in computer science. He was accepted to a few other schools, which, according to some sources, are ranked higher than USF, namely UCSD, UCD, UCSB, Cal Poly SLO and Santa Clara U. However USF offered him a generous scholarship as a University Scholar which covers nearly two-thirds of his tuition (room and board are extra). Would he have attended another school, such as UCSD, if the costs were the same or less than USF? Probably, but we could not ignore cost when making his final decision. He has been very happy there and receives a lot of personal attention from his professors. He does for one minute regret his decision to attend USF.
You must ask yourself:
Would you be happy going to school in an urban environment?
Are you aware that housing is only guaranteed for the first two years?
And, of course, can you afford it?

Remember, it’s not the college you get into; it’s what you get out of the college you attend.

Meant to write - He does NOT for one minute regret his decision to attend USF.
