Accepted

the new students tab also appeared on my solar login, but I still have not got an admission decision. Is this bad?

now today i go on and check and the new students tab is not their anymore. Did this happen to anyone else?

chris,

the new student tab appeared on my solar on thursday, february 4th. I paid the orientation fee as well as paying the fee for enrollment. I’m worried because i haven’t received my acceptance letter in the mail yet.

Is this normal?

Chris,
you told me that you thought the max for ap credits was 30. But how many credits do you get per exam?

MMM - Weird that you wouldn’t have gotten it yet, but hang in there. There isn’t a whole lot in the letter that you can’t see online, but if you don’t have it in the next week or two, call us.

NYSD - Depends on your score and on the exam. The chart is here:

[Stony Brook Undergraduate Bulletin - Spring 2010 - Advanced Placement Credit](http://sb.cc.stonybrook.edu/bulletin/current/policiesandregulations/admissions/apcredit.php)

Chris

whew. finally got an acceptance letter. now i’m just waiting on the honors college response.

does Stony Brook award credits for IB classes? I’m doing the full diploma, and my school only offers two AP classes, both of which I took.

After putting down a deposit, when and where will we informed of our orientation dates?

wow thats great :)

could anyone here plz help me out :)

you all got in to SBU, and thats where I want to go

@wisdom - Yes; as long as you have at least a 6 on the higher-level exam.

@MMM - Probably mid-April or thereabouts. Make sure you also complete the New Student Preferences form.

Chris

chris, im sorry for bothering you with all these questions but…

when stony brook asks for a “final transcript”, is this asking for the final grades of each class, as in the one letter grade- the average of the 4 quarters OR are they asking for a report card of the year?

I applied way back in late September 2009 and still haven’t heard. What is going on? It’s almost March.

Thank you for answering my questions, Chris. I have one more.
How many credits do you need to graduate/per semester?

@MMM - We mean final final, with all your grades, test scores, and date of graduation on there. You’ll send it some time over the summer.

@seraph - Call us.

@NYSD - Typically 120 credits for most programs, meaning 15 credits/term if you’re planning four years. Journalism is 127, anything in Engineering/Applied Science is 128.

Chris

If you didn’t hear yet is it no.

Soccer - No, not at all. We’re still sending out decisions, and will be for a couple more weeks.

Chris

Chris, D was invited to apply (Feb 1st deadline) using a short (no essay) app after the reg. due date. She is interested in the Scholars for Medicine program but the supplemental app on solar never worked. Will/Can she be considered for this program?

Is there a deadline of when Stony Brook has the decisions out by? When were the last decisions sent out last year? Will we hear by 3/15?

@plumazul - At this point, no. The deadline for SfM is 12/31; they’re already well into the decision-making process for all the honors programs at this point.

@Soccer - No, we have no deadline, and we can’t use last year as a guide, because the volume is up this year. I wouldn’t give a date, because there are way too many variables. Have you called us to confirm that your application is complete?

Chris

@Chris, ?? then WHY would SB send offers of a “First Priority Application”, that “
* You don’t have to write an essay (just submit a personal statement or graded paper).
* You’ll qualify for priority scholarship consideration.
* You’ll get a first-round admission decision!”
And with a deadline of FEB 1st!

This doesn’t sound like a “distressed” or “limited” application, it SOUNDED legit. Was it just a hoax? A way to raise $$?
