Accepted!

My D got in, too!! She also got the offer to visit with all expenses paid (airfare and on-campus accommodations). I can’t believe this!!

Is there a specific time you can visit?

Hi I haven’t gotten my acceptance packet yet but I received an email about WashU about the multicultural weekend with all expenses paid. I was wondering, does everyone get an all-expenses paid trip to WashU? Or is it more selective? It seems a lot of people on CC got a free trip but it seems pretty ridiculous for washu to pay for everyone.

Not everyone get an all-expenses paid trip. It will be very costly. They target certain accepted students to participate.

Accepted!

My first acceptance!

Woot@@@

:D

Pandora, after seeing your note, I double checked my son’s acceptance. No such offer to pay for flights out, but I didn’t expect anything. Our zip code alone tells the univrsity we didn’t need FA. Still, I’m thrilled my son was accepted. His “Congratulations!” letter arrived by UPS today.

I’m a little surprised, too. It seems really expensive for them to do that…

I don’t think its based off of zip code, though, because I also live in a very affluent area. Maybe its because I haven’t visited the campus yet?

i don’t think it has to do with income, i didn’t apply for FA or any scholarships and i got everything paid for. i have not visited their campus yet, however.
i registered everything yesterday, but did not receive a confirmation email. is this normal, or did i do something go wrong?

@Neon Green: It usually takes a few days for them to get back to you and with the influx of registrations going on, it might take longer than usual.

My D visited already, and I think they just really want her to choose Wash U!! She can visit when she wants.

As far as the multicultural weekend goes, I believe it is based on RACE (after all it is multicultural), NOT zip code, financial aid status, etc. I was invited and I didn’t apply for any financial aid (I was even too lazy to apply for the merit based scholarships). Basically, WUSTL is trying to recruit the “minorities” although I am Asian and Caucasian, the two more overrepresented races in college. lol

Is this all-expenses paid trip set for certain weekend? or any time in certain window? just want to make sure there is no conflict.

@sba2008 - the card I got didn’t say anything about a specific weekend, but I did read that the last date offered was April 29th (which would make sense, since deposits are due May 1st). They said that weekend overnight stays fill up really fast, though.

Thanks. That makes sense.

just got rejected by ucla…
thank god there’s washu to cheer me up… :
the multicultural weekend sounds fun i think i’ll go

^^^^

The only “expenses paid trip” is multicultural weekend April 15-17, … The Spring Preview is pay your own way …

I think you have to be invited to the multicultural weekend. I don’t think you can just decide to go there…but I still don’t know how the selection process works…

What are your stats Pandapanda? Kind of curious since I think WUSTL is WAY more selective than UCLA.

^^^My spring preview packet had an insert in it that said they would cover all airfare expenses…maybe they don’t do that for all their applicants?

Sirensong - yeah that’s what I had, it wasn’t for the multicultural thing. Maybe it was because I listed them as my top choice for national merit?
