By the way, I was accepted into the Honors College with a Dean’s scholarship ($17500). School runs a sham operation.

izzy - Why would you apply if you feel this way?

SnLmom: I hadn’t known those things before I applied. I was interested at first because I thought that out of all the different schools I applied to Drexel would give me the most money (which has turned out to be not the case). In addition, I learned that Drexel’s co-op program is not as great as the institution made it out to be (for the reasons stated). The intention was not to sound like a complete Drexel hater. I apologize if I came off that way. (Drexel has an excellent med school and a great engineering program).
And as I said before, their new honors dorm is beautiful. However, not to be understated, the way Drexel hands out scholarship money is shameful. Perhaps that is the reason why they are marked so low in the rankings (88; it demonstrates an obvious failure to attract more serious applicants with greater financial aid).

izzy - I get the impression that you are bitter that your unrealistic expectations have not been met.

You stated several opinions that do not warrant a response, but concerning co-ops:

"Co-ops are terrible: not only do you lose summers/academic year "

Drexel’s co-ops provide work experience in your specific field of study and are scheduled alternately with quarters of academics (could be summer or ‘regular’ school year depending upon your co-op cycle). Most career focused students would typically be looking for work in their intended field over the summer break no matter what college they attend. Do you think that resume-building is a waste of a summer?

“… they jobs you applied for are not guaranteed.”

What job is guaranteed anywhere? You must apply and be hired based on your qualifications, like in the real world.

“You could apply for a research position and end up washing dishers at XXX grill.”

Can you provide evidence to back this up? Co-ops must be preapproved and fall within student’s field of study. Anyone doing this would certainly not get credit for a co-op experience.

Not every college is a good match for every student for a variety of reasons. Ideally, one should apply to a school that meets ones target selection criteria and hope for, not expect a given amount of money.

I am curious to know if you have had the opportunity to visit the Drexel campus?

Accepted for film and video major! :D

Accepted yesterday for Chemical Engineering and the honors college. $18,000 Dean’s Scholarship too! I had a 3.6 UW and 2010 SATs

Accepted a couple hours ago for Television! Online it just says accepted…I think I applied to the honors college (not gonna lie, I don’t even remember because it was like October), should it say that online or will they mention in acceptance letter? Just making sure!

SnL mom: My expectations were not unrealistic. I assume you say this because you set your expectations low. I have visted Drexel on many occasions as I have a sister who transfered from Drexel after second year. She DID NOT GET the co-op that she applied for and had to work at xxx grill. Becuase of this the tuition was much higher than Drexel let it on to be. When I visited my leg went thru a staircase.

Accepted waaaaaay back in November:
3.89 UW GPA
25 ACT
2 leadership pos, 3 varsity sports, more EC’s
75+ hours community service
amazing recs

Accepted to Biological Sciences 1 Co-Op (Premed?!). They gave me no scholarship $ initially, but a “$1000 bonus” for filing my FAFSA early.

Thinking about letting them know I’m not interested…Drexel’s tuition is insane for a premed kid like me.

Checked my online portal and saw that I got accepted. I won’t be receiving the package for awhile because I’m an international. I was just wondering… Does Drexel inform you on your applicant portal about any scholarships they’re giving or is that information only contained in the mailed package? Thanks and congratulations to all who got accepted too! (:

Oh! Never mind, found it! (:

I have officially given up on Drexel, unless i get a major scholarship boost, theres no way i can afford to go there!!! and for some reason the costs seem to be piling up everyday but my major problem with Drexel, like Izzy said, the dont sctually let on to how much it really costs and then they slowly start to pile the costs!! i am sooo frustrated and ofcourse when i was applying, they made it seem as though the give huge amounts of scholarship to students!! Which is why i am faced with this terrible predicament!!! #i am disappointed!!!

wait, where on earth are you getting the idea that they don’t tell you the cost. Here’s the website-

[Tuition and Fees | Undergraduate Admissions | Drexel University](http://www.drexel.edu/undergrad/financing/break-down/)

If you do a co-op alone, you get a significant drop in tuition cost plus the money you would make while working is great.

ok, il check the link… but i still have a lot of doubt and i am really getting very fed up although i appealed my scholarship and they said they would get in touch by march/april! so i am still waitin, if i do get significantly larger amount (which i doubt i will), then il reconsider drexel because i know they have a wonderful engineering program!

How did you appeal your scholarship?

did you already receive all of your financial aid?

anyone not receive a decision yet? i applied christmas week and my application still says under review.

^ I haven’t either, mine’s still under review too. What major did you put?

@all4game, ehm to appeal i called in and asked to speak to my admissions officer and she said everyone can get one chance to appeal their scholarship and just asked how much more i need and then said, they’ll look at it and get back to me…
@pfips123, i am an international student so i guess i dont get any financial aid, so im left hoping for a better scholarship!

i just checked my status today, it said “my application is currently on hold”! what is that mean? anyone? thank you.
