@sophistry
I totally agree with you, it seems like science and engineering majors don’t get a lot scholarships. I’m really really disappointed.
I think not enough scholarships would be the reason I won’t attend Drexel next year.
I sent them an email about how to appeal for more scholarships as an international student, they haven’t replied yet.

@yayoiii I applied for architecture too, and my application has been under review for a while now. i’m nervous its taking so long

Accepted for Biology w/ 3 Co-Ops, and $11,500 Dean’s Scholarship.
3.49 Weighted GPA

1960 SATs
I got my decision (online) exactly 1 week after they’d received everything.

I got in with $12,500 Dean’s Scholarship!

3.68 W GPA
1850 SATs
600 SAT Bio
620 SAT US History

International Student
lotsa extracurricular

I’ll be majoring in Psycholgy.

@yayoiii and @ElizabethRose, I am also applying for architecture! My application was complete a couple of days ago, I also can’t wait for the decision. @ElizabethRose, don’t worry too much about the time, some people get their decisions only after a month or so. I wish my decision came in after 24 hours! I can’t stop checking online, everytime I come to the computer it’s like I automatically type in the address to see if my decision has been posted already. Good luck for both of us!

I got into the honors school for Business Admin. with a $24,000 (per year) AJ Drexel Scholarship!

GPA: 3.83 UnW
SAT: 2240
SAT II: 730 M 730 Chem 750 Ushist
Hoping I get called in for an interview for the Ba/Md program as well…that’ll be a real nail biter

I’ve just gotten my notice. Still awaiting a packet in the mail. All I got so far was an email congratulating me with info for the website login. Merit scholarship was $20.5k

(Applied for Business)

wow supakew and kyle787 both of you got a lot of scholarship! Congrats!!

My son got acceptance letter today-computer engineering

Yeah, got my acceptance letter for comp engineering today too.
Apparently I have to take Pre Calc over the summer. As if I didn’t know that. -_-

Accepted Mechanical Engineering
3.11 UW
31 ACT
Good Essay
Great Teacher recs

For those that got scholarships, did it come with the acceptance letter?

The amount of mine was printed right on the letter.

accepted to biomedical engineering with a $20k merit award and admit to pennoni honors college

GPA: 3.9 UW/4.5W
ACT: 32

I believe Good numbers on GPA & SAT are vital for scholorships.

My D got accepted to Engineering 2 weeks back but with no Scholorships. She has low GPA 3.3 and SAT score of 1800. There is no app fee for online common app and there is no loss but it is not useful either as we can not pay huge sum and we are looking for some instate school in MD

yes clinton101 but not necessarily some people wit 29 acts lower class rank have gotten 20k while people wit 31-34 act higher class rank have gotten 18k so i suppose its by a first come first serve basis (which basically means #1 gets $17500, #2 gets 11500 or 12500, #3 gets 24,000, #4 gets 20,000, etc.)

You are right IZZY4COLLEGE. I did not understand at first but after reading this forum, I realized that even though we got acceptance letter, we can not take it. I do not know how they decide but with their hyped fees, they made it impossible even to consider this school. When I contacted them again with a request for scholarships, they sent an email with the following information.

Committee reviews for merit-based scholarships during the admissions review

Submit FAFSA in January 2011

Beginning mid-Feb, they will mail fin.aid award summaries to accepted students

Well. I striked it off already from my list. Luckily we have many reputed schools with reasonable fees.

Good luck to all who got Scholarships.

I got into Pennoni Honors College and got 19,000 in scholarship money.

Well I just got back from visiting Drexel yesterday, so I can definitively say that if you’re looking down upon the school because they didn’t give you the scholarship you hoped, you should definitely reconsider. The big thing they were stressing is their co-op program, and by the way the info session explained it, it’s a far better deal than any other traditional college.

If you’re going by the 5-year, 3-co-op program, you do take class at the college for 12 quarters (the same amount of time as if you were going for any other 4-year degree), but you have 3 6-month co-ops that pay an AVERAGE of $15k (for 6 months!). And they HELP you get those co-ops (which are only open to Drexel students) by having this freshman seminar type classes, and by the sound of it, you’re basically guaranteed a spot somewhere. If you’re a 4-year, 1-co-op program, it’s basically the same thing, but considering you’re getting paid for those 3 co-ops, the 5 year is a better deal.

Also, during those 6-month co-ops, you may be off campus, meaning you don’t need to pay Drexel’s room and board (or buy a meal plan), and sometimes the employer specifies where they want you to live, and pays for that as well.

Plus, work experience. A lot of the top companies are involved with this co-op program, and it can take you across the country, if not around the world. Also: work experience. Guaranteed. In your major. And you get paid for it. Not nickels and dimes, actual money. What else are you going to college for?

The least you could do is spend two minutes to check it out. After visiting, Drexel really pushed itself from a safety to one really high on my list.

Got accepted a few days ago under Biological Sciences with a $22,500 AJ grant. They offered me the Honors College.

Does anybody know when they release the Accelerated Med BS/MD decisions? I’m a little anxious about whether I’ll get in or not. :(

P.S. Yay first post I just joined this site :D
