Accepted!!

aww congrats! nice little pre christmas gift for her. i hope ill be receiving an acceptance letter in a few days too! actually my status changed to “very carefully considered” hmm i hope it’s not a bad sign oh well, we’ll see. thank you! and a merry christmas to you too!!!

Question! If your application was completed on Dec 10th …when should i expect an answer?

ACCEPTED!!! i completed my app on 15th december and just got the message online today!! first US acceptance so i’m reeally happy!

tintin1992…Congrats on your acceptance!! Good luck with your other applications, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy your US university experience wherever you end up.

thanks wolverine86  and do you know if people get honors notifications now or later? cuz i saw that a few people had received honors notifications… was there a separate application for honors program? i don’t recall seeing one on the international application form itself. i applied for ChemE by the way.

tintin…Honors invitations seem to vary greatly, possibly based on which college you applied to. Our D1 was accepted into CBS and received an honors invitation by snail mail maybe 10 days or so after her acceptance letter from CBS came. Her online Application Tracker status never showed any honor invitiation, only the regular letter. Other posters found out via the online App Tracker that they had been invited to join Honors, but I don’t know for sure which college they applied to. If your App Tracker doesn’t show some sort of link for Honors Status then you’ll probably just have to wait and see if they send you another letter in the regular mail. Good Luck!!

^^ No separate app for honors. They seem to be taking their time releasing that information. I already heard, but my suspicion is that they release honors info faster for NMSFs. Regardless, you should go to your application tracker page as that will be updated faster than by post.

thanks for the info, guys. i really hope i get some sort of letter soon…

okay hi. this is my first post on this website so bear with me. okay so i got accepted to minnesota as well and it’s tied as my first choice with purdue. I live in chicago and as far as i know, no one from my school has gone to u of m (well, i think that’s a good thing). but i don’t know why they wouldn’t go to u of m–prob cuz it’s up north n it’s cold up there. but still. u of m is in an urban area and that’s what sets it apart from purdue. plus it’s cheaper. I don’t know. does anyone have the same problem that i do?

nne123…Congrats on your acceptance to U of Minn and to Purdue, and welcome to CC!! If the problem you’re referring to is choosing between U of Minn and Purdue, I think that’s a problem that many students would like to have. They’re both great schools and offer outstanding opportunities for you. Our D1 has been accepted into CBS at U of Minn, and also has acceptances from U of Mich, Ohio State, Alabama, Auburn, and Ferris State and must choose which offers her the best “fit”. To us that includes the quality of the program, location, setting (urban/rural), campus size, cost, and overall “feel” of the campus. Have you visited U of Minn or Purdue yet? Cost advantage would go to U of Minn since you’re OOS for either one. Being from Chicago I don’t think the cold will bother you much and both offer an outstanding education (Purdue may have a slight edge if you’re interested in engineering, although U of Minn’s Chem Eng program is very highly ranked) so you may get a better idea by visiting the campuses if you can. Congrats again on your acceptances and Good Luck wherever you choose to attend.

^^ You don’t actually seem to have a problem…

EDIT: Purdue and Minnesota are basically peers for engineering. Purdue may have a slight edge, but I don’t think it is significant. Minnesota is stronger in all areas outside of engineering.

Did anyone else get a lanyard and card over the holidays?

Thanks wolverine86…yeah I don’t want to major in engineering, actually apparel design n I chose minn n purdue because they’re big ten schools n I kind of stay connected with my twin brother (he’s going to u of Illinois, full ride) n u of i doesn’t have my major but Purdue and u of m do. No I haven’t visited any of the schools (sadly) and I know I have to, but minnesota is so far away. I actually went up there a year ago for someone’s graduation and saw a glimmer of u of m driving across a bridge. The architecture? Goregeous! But yeah I still have to visit it officially to really get a taste of what it’s like. Oh, I also want to major in business management so I was wondering how it’s like up there.

Well I am an international Undergraduate and have applied to Minnesota twin cities.

I had submitted my online application on 4th of November for Fall 2011 admissions.
I had also sent all of my application materials (school transcripts and things)within a week.
At around the 1st of December the application status showed my application was complete and ready for review but around the 10th its showed me a message in the missing materials columns that My secondary school certificate was missing and that i should send it again. Even though i Had sent theat with my supporting documents.

I contacted the admissions through Email and asked them to check again and also sent an attachment with the scanned certificate(s). They said if I had sent the material(certificate) They would be having it.

Till today the status hasn’t changed and it still shows me that the there is missing documents left to be sent.

Will this mean I will not be considered for priority Admission even though I had submitted my application before the 15th of December?

S.O.S.

I’m **** scared guys 'cause Minnesota is like one of my top 3 choices so please do help me.

i had the same problem, and i’m an international student as well. i got accepted yesterday. what i did was i sent them ALL my high school transcripts beginning from 9th grade with the school stamp on them to show it’s certified. then they considered me for admission.

I don’t think they want the certificate only: it has to be stamped by your school and then sent along wth your other school transcripts. that’s what i did. i don’t know whether you’ll be considered for priority. if it still says that there are application materials missing, remember that admissions office is closed till 2nd jan, so anything you send them during this period won’t be received by them. i don’t think they’ll consider you for priority. then again, if your stats are good, you stand a good chance anyway.

I had sent them all my transcripts along with the official stamp and School personnel signature even then the application status.

Even then the application Status remained the same.

And all that I have done before the 15th so shouldn’t i be considered for priority?
I had even asked them through email and they said i we have sent them that in the packet they’ll be having it.

What should I do next?

oh then i don’t know. it’s either a technical thing, and they haven’t updated your profile, or they haven’t received them yet. but don’t worry, like i said, if your essay and stats are good, you don’t need to worry too much.

Well i have 1940 in my SAT and 1360 in my composite.

also I have done alot of social work and have organized various camps in school.
i have also organised Symposium’sin school and have participated and won various quizzes.
i am also part of the school team which won the interzonal football competition.

How much do i need in my SAT?
