My app was complete the end of October. Haven’t heard a thing. Does the notice come via mail or email? Thanks and congrats to all!

I’m an International student. I was accepted to College of Sci&Engineering just a few days ago (I applied for Chemistry), and now I’m waiting for my information about whether I will be admitted to Honors Program or not. I haven’t received any information about that since I was admitted to UMN.
However, I would like to ask you guys whether I have any chances to get into Honors Program. I participated in 41st and 42nd International Chemistry Olympiads held in UK and Japan respectively, and I won silver medals in both 2 contests. I also won first prize in the National Chemistry Olympiad. My GPA was around 9,5/10, too. However, my SAT scores are relatively low (1700) and my TOEFL scores are 89.
Therefore, do I have any chances to get into Honors Program?
I really appreciate any responses.
By the way, I am a Vietnamese student. Nice to meet all of you guys!

Please give me some advice :(. I am still ok, but my mom is quite worried about this. Thanks for any responses!

heroofspeed…Congrats on your acceptance to U of Minn!! Regarding the Honors program, my opinion would be that you stand a very good chance of being invited. Since acceptance into Honors is based on a holistic review, the strengths of your admissions package can balance out what you perceive to be the weaker points. Since you were accepted into one of the toughest programs to get into (Chem Eng) I’d say your application had to be pretty strong overall. Honors invites have been coming out for most students 1-2 weeks after their acceptances to the university, but in any case they should notify you by the end of March. If for some reason you don’t get invited to join as an incoming freshmen, you will still be able to apply each year while you’re at the U as well. Good Luck!!

Wolverine86… Thank you very much for your response. I feel better now!
By the way, I applied for Chemistry, not for Chemical Engineering :D.

Woo hoo! Son is in! Application Tracker still says “your application is being carefully considered,” but the big, yellow envelope arrived in the mail today!

HockeyMom - a huge congrats to you and your son. Don’t you love how they put the word congratulations across the outside of the envelope? Saves us moms from trying to read through the envelope!!!

^^^ Seriously, right!

Isn’t it a bummer when an important-looking envelope arrives on a day they’re coming especially late? Or - perish the thought - out of town!

Got my envelope today!!! Congrats to all!!!

HockeyMom and ready2011…Congrats on the acceptances!! Looks like the Class of 2015 is growing. Good Luck with Honors, scholarships, etc. Go Gophers!!
