Got my acceptance letter yesterday.

1310 SAT, 35/277 rank, 3.93w GPA, all honors/AP courses.
****load of extracurriculars and leadership positions (president of NHS, etc). Lots of athletic stuff (two time state champion football team/four time state champion track team, ranked top 30 in the country in the 200m). Probably will not be attending though, Tulane doesn't have a track team :(

SAT: 730V, 720M
SAT IIs: 790 writing, 750 BIO M, 610 Math IC
GPA: 3.916/4.33 unweighted
Course load: Tough stuff
XC: President of Student Government, President of Senior class, NHS, Mathletes, etc.

Waiting to hear word on DHS, poured my heart into that little box. It was only worth 160K.

1500+ SAT around 700 SATII's top 10%

accepted with distinguished scholars award.

What is a personal app? How does it differ from their regular app? Any advantages? How do you get on the select app list?

(I'm asking for S who will be applying next year.)

Personal app is sent to you without requesting it. Probably based on PSAT scores. If you utilize the Personal App no application fee is required and you receive an admissions decision within about 4 weeks.

I was under the impression that the personal app also goes to kids who express early interest as in returning a postcard, getting on their email list, etc. My S's PSATs were nothing to write home about but he got the personal app. He had expressed interest in Tulane during his junior year and visited between junior and senior years. By early fall of senior year, he had received the personal app.

bluebayou- my D did not get the personal app in the mail but when she started her online app it said it was a personal app and did not require an essay. She did do the essay anyway since she had one that would work already done.
What I would suggest is he either apply EA or just get his Regular app in on the early side since they roll the earlier apps. Then he won't be waiting around till April. I was a little concerned that my D would have to wait until April. When we called in early Feb we were told if you had applied in Jan you would probably not be hearing early. Since they had misplaced her transcripts in Jan. we weren't expecting to hear early. She was lucky and got her acceptance yesterday.

congrats mom60, do we have another Green Wave in our midst?

what was the cutoff for national merit in other states? In louisiana it was 209.

I was a 2003, so I don't know how relevant this is.

I got the DHS, didn't do the deans project, I should have. I also got invited to honors.

And just as a gauge, right now I'm a Finance Major with a 3.0 Cum GPA.

Thank you, rico, for the student's point of view and inside information. We parents try to provide info as best we can, but no one can do it like someone who's "in the trenches"! Might I add, it is comforting to us to find out that what lies down the road for our son's and daughters.

rico, one more question, when is the business school scheduled to go to a four year program?

Rico, you received the DHS without doing the actual project for it?

today i got the "founder's scholar" award (14k + 2k)... does this mean i'm likely to be acceepted to honors?

Rico, how did you get the DHS without doing the "dean's project"?? Just curious.

acceptance came today...
