Accepting a Place on the Waitlist: Bad Idea?

Hey all, just a question about accepting a place on a waitlist: I know that it is against the rules to accept an offer of admission to more than one school, does accepting a waitlist position qualify? If you do, and then accept another offer to a different school, could you get in trouble?

No, it should not be a problem. Most competitive schools use waitlists and know how they operate.

no not at all. most places that waitlist you tell you to accept at other schools. BC just did that to me.

Thanks everyone! I wasn't sure, and didn't want to get the school that accepted me upset. In the end, I duess it really doesn't matter, since I need to accept admission long before I would find out about getting off the waitlist at the other school.

good luck with the whole waitlist thing p44!

thank you!!

my situation is a little different: i got accepted by one of my schools, and waitlisted by my first choice. the deadline for the other school is early (end of may) while my first choice school will inform me only between june15-july15. is it ok to accept and then withdraw if my first choice school accepts me of the waiting list??

i hope someone knows..

Zuz,

It is okay. You will lose your deposit if you do not attend the school with the May deadline, that is all. Again, these schools all utilize waitlists, so don't fret.

hey p44, to what schools have you applied, and where did you get accepted to &or waitlisted so far?
