Accepting/Declining Aid

On my packages it says if I want to accept or decline the package. When should I do this by? Im not sure where I want to attend so should I not accept any until I decide, or accept them all now and choose later?

You accept them when you accept the admissions, as far as I’m aware. Wait until you’re sure where you want to go. You don’t accept them until you are sure where you’re attending.

Many schools have May 1st deadlines for RD, so you have time to decide. You can’t really accept to a bunch of them (without paying deposits) and it’s really not necessary since you still have time to decide.

Also, when you decide which school to attend, you can accept/decline (as far as I know) various individual pieces of the pkg. For example, certainly you want any grants or scholarships, and there are “good” loans like Perkins and subsidized Stafford. But, if one of the items on the FA award letter is something you don’t want, like a private lender loan or an unsubsidized loan, you can just cross through and initial that - or communicate in writing with the school that you accept the pkg except for item #5, or however it is itemized.
