Accepting Financial Aid and AES

I accepted my AES award a while back ago and received a sketchy "confirmation" of my AES acceptance.

However, when I'm on the galaxy portal to accept my financial aid awards, I see that I can only accept my federal awards (Pell, Work study, and loans). I can neither accept nor deny my AES awards.

I was wondering if this is supposed to happen?

Funny story, I called them about this a few weeks ago. Your AES is handled by the Office of Education, while your financial aid awards aka your Pell, Work Study and Loans are handled through the Office of Financial Aid. I also tried to click my AES boxes but without any luck however that’s okay since the Office of Education already recognized you accepted your AES. So you’re fine as long as you received your confirmation email. Hopefully from Tina Clinkscales.

Okay, good. It was from Tina.
And I’m honored to be your first post on CC
:3

How long did it take for you guys to get a confirmation email?

To be honest, I think I received the confirmation email 1.5-2 weeks after I did the AES accept form. However, I could be wrong given that it’s been like a month since I received that confirmation email. I wouldn’t worry too much.

Another random question hopefully someone can answer.

Does anyone know if choosing to live off campus affects financial aid? I recently looked at a couple of options, it and it seems to be much cheaper (along with better living conditions) to live off campus.

Nope. You’ll still get your aid if you live off campus. Just make sure you accept the financial aid you want.
