I logged into PAWS and saw what TCNJ is offering me through financial aid, but when I tried to click on the accept/decline awards button, there was no link. Does anyone know when we'll be able to accept or decline the aid?

what type of aid was it? it’s possible it was just posted and the link wasn’t up yet so i’d try again soon

my mom called today with a similar question and the rep said that the offer is just estimated. The final offer will be available in july so thus you can only accept the offers then.

I guess that makes sense. I was trying to click the link also and it wasn’t working

yeah same here hopefully our offers stay!!

offer might increase actually from what i’ve heard. i wish they offered me more money thought rutgers is cheaper for me right now

how much did you get in total in need also what kinds were u offered (grants, scholarships, etc.?)

Okay, I figured the offer was estimated which was why I couldn’t accept it, I just wanted to make sure. I was offered $7000 total for the year, $3500 per semester. It got broken down into two federal direct subsidized loans of $1,750 each, two federal unsubsidized loans of $1000 each, and $1500 in work-study for the year ($750 per semester).

Got $10,300 per year, 4800 Pell Grant, 3500 Direct Subsidized, 2000 Direct Unsubsidized. I thought that I would also be offered work study and a Perkins Loan, like Rutgers did.

what is work study?

you make like 2000 a year with a job that you pick i believe all on campus. some of which would look good on a medical school application

ohh so is that part of fafsa or how did you get involved/receive that type of award??

that financial aid FAFSA stuff

okayy i see

I have a couple of questions.

1) How do I determine how much I will have to pay per year?
2) (I’ll probably call the office about this on Monday but) I was missing a few documents. Will the estimate be recalculated before the official report is released?

^ By how much I will have to pay by the way, I was wondering what tuition is.

ooo didnt understand second question posted in the other thread. your initial aid offer isnt permanent because they dont even know how much tuition will be for next year, and wont know until they hold their meeting in july. then they send you a final award package before the first bill is due in august.
after they figure out how much everything will cost next year, they will send you a revised copy.

I see what you mean. Though, since it’s an estimate, it probably won’t be significantly different, right?

With that estimated yearly tuition, I would be required to pay $2,000 next year. I’m torn between TCNJ and Villanova right now, because with Nova I would only have to pay about $700 next year, with about the same in loans. The thing is, in terms of the campus and academics, I prefer TCNJ. Both schools obviously have their pros and cons, and I’ll admit part of the reason why I’m deciding on Villanova right now is because of the financial aid, but the cons for Villanova outweigh the cons for TCNJ.

Since the aid package was calculated using the details from FAFSA using the 2009 Tax Returns, I suppose it won’t change drastically. I don’t think I can appeal for more aid, but if I could, I would change my mind in a heartbeat. I’m also applying for scholarships offered by my school, so that would help as well.

i wish you luck with the scholarships. you could always try appealing, and if that doesnt work then there are always private loans
