Accepting Financial Aid

Does it matter when I accept my financial aid? If I accept my aid now would I be able to receive more aid? For example, lets say today I log into my student account and accept my aid. If I was awarded scholarship the next month would it show up on my student account so I could accept it?

Most school scholarships are already factored into the package unless noted otherwise. Outside scholarships will differ.

Financial aid can change after you accept it. For instance my daughter was awarded a higher scholarship after she retook the ACT so her aid was adjusted to reflect that. Then she got a research scholarship so it was adjusted again. Then right before school started she ws awarded the ACG and it was all adjusted again. Each time her loans went down.

Some parts of an aid award may have time limits for acceptance so make sure you look out for that. For instance my daughter had work study and a Perkins loan and both had to be accepted by a certain date or she would have lost them.
