Accepting Perkins Loan

How do I accept the Perkins loan? I've heard that I'm going to have to sign some note; can anyone point me to the site? And is it too late to accept it?

Did you accept it from your school? At our school the campus based federal aid programs (Perkins, SEOG, and Work Study) all have acceptance deadlines of a few weeks from the initial offer. If we don’t officially accept from the school, they award the funds to someone else (as funding is so limited they do not have enough for all who qualify).

If you still have the offer from the school, the school should be able to provide you with a link to the promissory note. Ours sends and email with the link. Ask your FA dept.

Yeah, I’ve accepted it from the school, but haven’t signed the note yet. I’ll call them. Thanks.

so they’ve said that i won’t be able to sign the promissary note until they e-mail us the link, which they haven’t yet. doesn’t it seem a bit late when people from other schools have already done this? is it different for all schools?

When does school start? If school has not started yet, I wouldn’t worry about it - hopefully they will send the link before school starts (We have already been back a week.) Even if they don’t, they presumably take that into account when your bills are due.
