Accepting scholarships

i am not sure if i saw it here or if it was for another school.

do kids need to accept their scholarships by a certain date (like this week?) (the 15th maybe?)

Yes, you have to respond by the 15th. When you go on to the form, you can request an extension till May 1st if you need it. However, it said that if you do not reply by April 15th, they will assume you are declining.

Mike, here’s the link to the scholarship acceptance form. Don’t delay!

[Scholarship Reply Form (2010-2011) - Undergraduate Scholarships - The University of Alabama](http://scholarships.ua.edu/reply/)

Yikes…there are some people (like some late NMF kids) that are still waiting for their scholarship notifications.

Some have only recently applied/got accepted.

And some are still waiting to hear from engineering about their extra scholarships.

(Bama is going to have a LOT more NMFs this fall  )

There were two things that D replied to last week. One was the link listed above accepting the scholarship (and I believe she got an email immediately confirming that.) plus there was a financial aid sheet where we declined the loan portion & mailed it back.

is there someplace on mybama where we can see the scholarship offers.

i have one from a while back, but i just found out about the other a week ago by email. no “official” mail notification yet.

We are still waiting on official notification of a corporate NMF scholarship. Don’t think that announcement comes until April 21st. What should we do about accepting the scholarship offer until then?

The corporate one isn’t related to Bama.

One of the parts to the Bama scholarship is the 1K national merit award. Don’t we have to turn that down if we get a corporate NMF?

Accept the NM offer from Alabama, Montegut. You can always make the change later.

Remember the check the fine print on a corporate offer. If it is a one-time offer, you should choose to decline it – you would be losing money ($2500 one-time versus $4000 over four years).

Also, to the NM Scholars, you will not receive that $1000 stipend right away in your student account. It usually comes in October – the first $500. The second $500 came in February, and in the form of a check addressed to my son.

Montegut…

Is the $1k NMF a sep line item to accept?

We just accepted the whole thing. There wasn’t a sep line item back then.

does it show you all your offers when you go in to accept??

No, Mike. But if you need more time, just click on the option that let’s you extend your decision until May 1. Try the link I provided earlier in this thread (http://scholarships.ua.edu/reply/</a>). You’ll see right away what the accept/decline form looks like.

Thanks for the link. Just checked it again. There is the option for the extension, which we requested, since we have to wait until April 21 to find out about the corporate. Didn’t let me go beyond that, so don’t know if there’s a separate line item.

Talked to the scholarship office. Corporate notification doesn’t matter.

So, we have ACCEPTED THE OFFER!

Woo hoo! Congratulations!
