Accepting the Offer

Is accepting the offer binding? Is it possible to change my mind, and get my confirmation waived?

I think it’s official.

if you were waitlisted for another school and the waitlist clears, it is understandable that you might retract your acceptance. It is unlikely to get the relatively small fee refunded, but nobody is going to send police to physically force you to check into the dorms and sit in classes. What is not acceptable is obvious insincerity - such as accepting 2 or more of the UC offers at the same time. That shows an intent to deceive. On the other hand, if Cal gave you an offer but Princeton only waitlisted you, nobody expects you to risk everything waiting for the Ivy, thus accepting an offer at Cal is reasonable. If later, you clear the waitlist at another school you wish to attend more fervently, it is fully understood that you would notify Cal and they could in turn deal with their own waitlist.
