Accepting then not going

What happens if i reserve my place at chicago. Pay my deposit.. But end up not going there? do i get on some black list or anything? Do i get sued?

No - all that happens is you lose the deposit. Let's say for instance you were on the wait list of your top school and found out in July. So you had to enroll at another school just in case you didn't get moved off the list. If you did get moved off then you would notify the other college that you enrolled in and they would keep the deposit. I think this happens fairly frequently actually.

This happens so frequently that it's acquired a name- "summer melt." I did it myself, although not at U Chicago.

It's not too cool to pay the deposit at two schools at the same time. The situation that Myself described does happen frequently, and is not a problem.
