Accepting with ACT results only

Hi, im just curious.

since the jhu webby says that taking sats 2 is highly recommended, do they have a history of accepting applicants who only submitted their act scores?

btw, i only took the act and mines like 33.

thanks! cheers!

Yes we have admitted applicants who have submitted just the ACT. We also have admitted students with just the SAT. We have admitted students who have taken both the SAT and ACT. We also have admitted students who have taken either the SAT or ACT and either 1,2,3, or more SAT II subject exams.

We require applicants to do either the SAT or ACT with Writing. We recommend and prefer students to also submit 3 SAT subject exams. In the end it is each individual applicant’s decision what they want to submit.

thank you very much!

it is very reassuring to hear an answer from a college rep!

appreciate it lots!

When I applied, I submitted only my ACT with Writing. However, back then the test requirement was worded differently on the website.

**From 2008:/b

"The SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT with Writing Test is required.

For those submitting SAT scores, Johns Hopkins recommends submitting SAT Subject Test scores, and if submitted, requests results from three tests. Applicants should select Subject Tests that demonstrate their mastery of a specific area of study or convey their academic interests."

However, now it is worded as a universal recommendation.

From Today:

“The SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT with Writing Test is required. Up to three SAT subject tests are recommended.”

Will Hopkins consider only the highest standardized test scores submitted? For example, if a student’s ACT score is significantly higher than their SAT (or vice versa), will JHU simply take the higher score into consideration and put the other, lower score aside?

For statistical purposes we always report the highest of an applicant’s scores. If one’s SAT is higher than their ACT on the concordance chart then we report the SAT … and vice versa. For the SAT we do super-score, but we don’t do that for the ACT.

Do note though that the Admissions Committee reviews all the scores one sends in. It is impossible for us to ignore information. So if you ACT is higher that is what we will report and focus on, but that does not mean we ignore the SAT if submitted. Just being honest.

Ok. It’s just that my ACT score is significantly higher than my SAT score, but I have sent both into JHU. Hopefully my ACT will outweigh my SAT score and bring me a favorable decision.

^^first honest assessment about SAT/ACT I have seen…good to know

Hello!
Does Johns Hopkins University do alumni or phone interviews? If so, is it too late to arrange? If it is possible, who would I contact? What percentage would you say it weighs against your application if it is not accompanied by an interview?
Thanks!

No phone interviews are ever conducted.

Re: alumni interviews:
