My financial aid package has been finished for a while, and I've accepted/confirmed everything except the parent loan and work study. I can't find any link to accept the work study, so can anyone help me out?

Your work-study will continue to say “offered” (or something along those lines) until you actually find yourself a work-study job and get hired for it. Your employer will then make a refer you for the job and you can sign onto the work-study site to accept it.

So how long do I have to find a job down there? I have to wait until the beginning of August when we move into our dorms?

Normally you’d have to interview face-to-face to get the work-study job, and most jobs are on campus. If you’re in Berkeley during the summer you can start work-study asap.

So if I’m not up there for the summer, I have to wait until the beginning of the fall semester? I tried looking for a work study job through the Berkeley website, but it gave me an error and said that it has to be included in my financial aid package, yet I do have it.

Are you a first year? Work-study is by school year, so it’ll open up on June 1 for first years, I think.

Yeah I’m an incoming freshman, but okay, that answers my question. Thank you.

i checked on the work study website but then they didnt let me look at the available jobs because they said i didnt have work study, but i do according to my financial aid package. any help?

Same thing happens to me, but weebly said it’ll open up for us on June 1st.

The work-study cycle begins on June 1st every year, so your work-study hasn’t started yet. You have all year to look for a work-study job, so don’t worry about finding one right away. The offer is good for a whole year, so you technically wouldn’t lose any of it if you don’t work during the first semester. The only reason you would lose out on your work-study is because you won’t have the time to finish as many hours, which means you won’t earn as much money as you possibly can by the end of the year. I personally didn’t even bother looking during my first semester and wounded up with two jobs towards the end of my second semester.
