Accessing Rutgers Email

So supposedly I have 2 email accounts from rutgers? One ends in @rutgers.edu and the other ends in @eden.rutgers.edu.

Rutgers usually send important information to the @rutgers.edu account which I had it forwarded to my regular @gmail account. My problem is how do I access the @rutgers.edu account. Am I supposed to be able to? I know I could access the @eden.rutgers.edu account with my NetID and password. Are @rutgers.edu and @eden.rutgers.edu the same thing?

You can acces your eden account at my.rutgers.edu
Log in with your net id :)

@rutgers.edu is your alias email, and you can’t access it directly. The alias email is to conceal your private information; for instance, let say a student named John Doe received his formal Rutgers email as jd411@eden.rutgers.edu. He can then log onto his account and set his alias to, say, john.doe@rutgers.edu.

When John Doe tells his email to someone, he can tell the person his alias email rather than his real one. The real one shows the Net ID, and he doesn’t want people to know his Net ID. Anyways, any emails that was sent to john.doe@rutgers.edu will go to his Rutgers email account for him to view.

Wow that is something new that I wish older students can get. If anyone wanted to hack you and your eden email is public in the directory, they already got half the job done!

@Corduroybear, I’m pretty sure that older students can get it, too; I know a senior who has 3 different alias accounts. Do you want me to give you the link that leads you to setting up your alias?

Yes please! I unfortunately like to use my eden to sign up for some sites :)

Okay, here it is! [Computing Services for Students](http://eden.rutgers.edu/index.php)

Under “Getting Your NetID & Eden Account”, click “Manage Your Email Address and Alias.” Then you can log in by using your Net ID and Password. Then it’s pretty clear where to go from there.

thank you very much!

No problem! :)
